Valued Opinions have invited me to do a Financial Products survey for £40!

Trouble is, it's either face to face or on the phone and i can't really be bothered to do all that! Especially as when doing these surveys i give bogus info just to make sure i qualify and get the cash!

    Has anyone else had this?

The pain is that you have travel somewhere for the discussion, or conduct a conference call about stuff you don't care about. I could honestly answer 'not bothered' to all the questions, and I doubt they are looking for those kind of responses...

    I do that.

'Would you ever consider buying a rental property in Spain?'

Answer would be no, but suspecting the market research to be from a property company, i answer 'Yes' or 'Possibly'.....

But doesn't lying defeat the object? Services and products won't improve for the targeted customers if the wrong people are being surveyed. As a general word of warning to those "playing the system": I think panelists should be very careful because these companies do cross reference, they do have sophistocated software to spot inconsistencies and the end result after a few months will be that you don't qualify anyway...
Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...

they shouldnt ask us screening questions then should they, and waste our time, why should we keep filling out answers only to be told sorry you dont qualify its all on their side they dont pay much either.

But it's not intended as a substitute for employment, is it? It's just an incentive to do what they used to get people to do for free. They just got fed up with people on the street refusing to talk to their survey staff. You can do these surveys until the cows come home, but it'll only ever amount to enough to help with the occasional grocery shop and vouchers to help with xmas shopping. That's why most people who've been at them for a couple of years tend to just do a few a day or a week in the lunch hour or whatever. You only have to chat with the people on a community like Ciao to hear that again and again. Incidentally, most people find that quota of surveys increase after they've stuck with them for a good period of time and answered consistently. Now that I've been doing these for 2 years I get far more than I possibly have time to answer.

I agree with Ali1972, there is no point in creating a false profile or answering just for the money.

You can answer truthfully if you imagine how you would feel about a product if you were in the market for it.

I have recently turned down two high paying surveys concerning things I know nothing about.

I have recently taken 2 surveys for no payment because I felt I had a contribution to make.

Last year I was approached in a public library and asked if I could spare ten minutes to help with some research. At the end of the survey I was give a £10 note. Another time I was unexpectedly given 3 chocolate bars for taking part in a street survey. It does pay to be honest.
I love finding more ways of making money that cost me little or nothing
