Dehumidifier - no water collection tank?

I have a mobile AirCon unit with a Dehumidifier function. We have been using in a small room when the electric clothes airer is setup.

I have a moisture meter and during operation the moisture levels don't go above 59%, so I believe the dehumidifier function is effective.

However I am confused as I have never had to empty the tank - the instructions does say:

"Condensation water that forms during cooling will drop into an in-built drip tray. When the water level in the drip tray is getting too full an error E4 code will display and remove the rubber stopper and drain water out of the tray."

Does anyone have any thoughts on why I have never had this error code? I just worry that it's not appropriate as a Dehumidifier and I'm making things worse?

I sit the air exhaust hose under the airer as it blows out hot air and I also leave the window open when its in operation - I am totally clueless if this is totally the wrong thing to do?

The clothes do dry faster with this setup and humidity does not go above 59%.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Frank

Aircon units are designed to have the hose going outside of the house.

They collect the water in a tray, and then use the hot air generated by the compressor to evaporate that water and blow it through the hose outside of the house. In normal operation the tray should not fill, but in some scenarios that can happen.

If you're using an AC as a dehumidifier and setting the hose to exhaust into the same room, you're not really dehumidifying at all - you're just using it as a fan heater.

i have an aircon with dehumidifier.
In dehumidifier mode the exhaust hose is not needed as water in the air is condensed into the reservoir tank.
Having the window open will just allow moisture to re enter the room, a bit like like using aircon in the summer with a window open letting heat back in.

are you sure you have it in dehumidifier mode as the tank should be filling as its used. If you have hot air coming out the vent hose it sounds like its in aircon mode.
