Id mobile issue

Hi, I bought my husband a new phone for Xmas, not realising the sim was same we got new number. Were all with id mobile sim deals in the house so assumed I could still port number. But no. I can't so on discussing only via Web chat which is crap they said inter company numbers is not possible. So I asked fir new sim for new contract as I put aside when I got thinking at well I'll transfer. They didn't send replacement sim, said I can upgrade sim deal to phone deal. I said but I already have the phone. Basically as its webchat I get no sense, wait 12 mins between responses but if my response is more than 2 mins they looking to end chat. I want to pay. I think I'll move sim only deal to another provider then I can swap.

But my god should it be this hard to speak or discuss that is not over an hour on chat with 4 responses?

    I guess you're saying…

    • Your husband has an id mobile contact (and phone number)
    • You signed up for a new id mobile contract - with a new phone, new airtime bundle and new phone number
    • But you want the new airtime bundle (and new phone) applied to your husband's old phone number
    • id mobile won't agree to transfer the new airtime bundle to the old number

(id mobile seem to be saying that you should have upgraded your husband's original contract to add a new phone and airtime bundle, rather than signing up for a new contract which comes with a new number.)

However… I've never done it myself, but I gather you can achieve what you want by doing a "port out" and "port in", something like this:

    • Sign up for a pay-as-you-go contract with another network (e.g. EE or O2)
    • Port your husband's old number to that new network
    • Then port your husband's old number back to the new id mobile contract
