Re tagging someone
What I did:
TrTrued To write Ta @ someone's username and it came out as Ta @beabean
This happens constantly
I'm leaving the forum's auto formatting in the above as I tried to write this too
What Should happen:
IIt Shouldn't insert extra letters or capitals where they weren't put
AAs above
(forum overwrote the 'What happened' title when I backspaced despite it only should have gone back one line- so the double spacing issue we raised in the main thread is not just that issue but seems like the coding doesn't recognise its own double spacing? Regardless it should only have deleted one letter, not the whole line)
Why it matters:
People are likely to not notice they're not tagging effectively, it is time consuming to constantly correct, and makes the site seem unprofessional
Device/Browser:
AnAndroid (Forum formatting) and chrome

I hope it's okay to add my comments about problems tagging here, as I'm having a slightly different issue to Pennysintopounds, if this should be a post on it's own, please let me know and I'll delete this one
What I did:when trying to tag some, using the @ sign only brings up a loading list of users some of the time
When the list does appear and I can select the user I want, spaces and comma's are added to the text after the user name
If I go back and view my post with the tag in, 60% of the time, the tag has disappeared
What Should happen:Using @ should always bring up a list of users to tag
Additonal spaces and comma's shouldn't be added to the text
Tag should remain in the post
Why it matters:Tagging users should be a basic part of the functionaility of the forum

I'm also adding to the existing thread as this is closely related to the issue reported by @PennysIntoPounds
What I did:
I wanted to selectively quote a section of a post that tagged another user. Here is the full post in question:
Here is my reply to it:
What Should happen:
I should be able to select the final paragraph, copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C), paste it into the rich text editor (Ctrl+V) with the @MSE_Stephen being preserved in the text that I paste.
What happened:
Does anyone know where to find the thread that @mse _Stephen (note that this isn't in bold and no drop down menu appeared) said he was setting up for specific issues as this one was getting too big. I thought I'd bookmarked it but now I can't find it.
@MSE_Stephen has been transformed into @mse _Stephen (there is no user @mse)
When I do the same for the first sentence in the post, I get:
I had a similar problem
where an extra @ and a space was coming up before the final letter of a username .
A newline is inserted before and after the tag (this one isn't munged), and an extra space is inserted between "username" and "."
Why it matters:
It is no longer possible to edit full quotes, so our only remaining option if we don't want to fully quote a reply is to copy and paste extracts from it. If these are malformed when parsed by the RTE, then it creates extra work for the user in checking what they pasted hasn't been changed, and correcting it if it has.
Text copied to the clipboard should not be changed by the editor when pasted in.
Device/Browser:
Linux / Firefox
NOTE: I have upvoted this post, but I don't personally suffer any issues when using @ to tag users, either on Linux desktop or Android, but I do when I copy/paste others' tags when quoting them.
