Is there still not a regulation(?) that mobile phones should not be used on petrol station forecourts? Or are you meaning inside the attached shop/kiosk?

Not that I'm aware off. I can use my phone with the contactless reader on the pump itself, they had a poster up saying that Google and Apple pay were now accepted at the pumps.

Saw a video once where they tested out this don't use mobile phones at the station thing.
Wasn't nearly as end of the world as its made out to be.

What? No gigantic fireball or 40m deep smouldering crater?
Rubbish video.
It's just being over-cautious, no doubt a hangover from the days when mobile phones were the size of briefcases and used as much power as a fan heater. Probably a good thing not to be on the phone while squirting flammable liquid into your motor anyhow.
See also mobile phone use on planes or in hospitals (is the latter still a thing?).
