Morning all
Dry here 😃 but more rain due tonight. OH is putting the floor down in the utility and will go and collect the skirting boards later, this are finally beginning to happen, there is a cupboard to build and be put on the wall to as well as the oak counter to be cut and fitted, it may not all get done today but at least it’s a start.
Dinner tonight will be pie and mash, dd is off out for dinner with her friend so just OH and I here, I can’t put a wash on this morning as the wm will have to be taken out at some point.
I have to take little dog to the vet later, she has been behaving very oddly for about a month, she seems very reluctant to come into the lounge and keeps hiding upstairs, I want the vet to check her teeth as she has always had problems with them so I think she might be in pain with them.
Gers thinking of you xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
I did go to the doctors and Mr Windley and all of you who suspected it were right, I have Gout!
The doctor thought it was my body reacting to the stress of surgery, I have medication that I can take if the pain gets to much ( have to say it is jolly painful) but he suggested trying to manage without it if I can, we'll see how I go.
So I'm not going anywhere for the next few days, telling myself that this too will pass and hopefully I'll be feeling more like myself by next week, I have an old friend who I want to meet for coffee a week today and I'm aiming for that!11 -
Sympathies on the (lack of) date @mehefin. Hope you find someone lovely to spend time with xx We have a proposal of 8,500 new homes here which will cut a swathe through the countryside. It's been called in to Westminster. Lots of campaigning going on here too.
Sorry it's gout @MollyWindley - can you look at your diet too as some foods make it worse? x
Hope you feel better soon @remmie x

@mehefin sorry to read about the possible loss of your village greenspace. Unfortunately, brownfield sites are generally more expensive to use as the ground will likely need reparation & decontamination work. Near me there are plans for a new small "village" on the site of an almost demolished power station (4 cooling towers & buildings down, 4 towers & a tall chimney yet to go), it includes the extra facilities (school, shops, Dr's etc) but the connecting bus services has just been stopped after 6pm at night 🤷♀️

Afternoon all, thanks @Scarlet for today's thread, sorry to hear your tablet isn't behaving itself.
Yesterday evening the council gritter went up and down the road so they must have been expecting a cold night; I didn't see any frost or snow but it was certainly cold enough for some. It's another wet and dismal day, perhaps a bit drier later this afternoon - it's feeling like Groundhog Day!
My heating timer has been fixed. 😀 I thought it was going to be a no-show when no-one had turned up by 4 pm but the chap rang to say he had been delayed and was on his way. In the end it was a quick 10 minute job - apparently it's a common fault. While I was waiting I set up February's budget spreadsheet and also made a start on a new annual one for the next financial year. If I can get the formulas right it will just be a matter of populating it with figures when the bills start arriving during the next couple of months. And I need to investigate whether to move my ISA to somewhere else as my current provider has advised the interest rate will be dropping next month due to the BoE's cut. It's a variable cash one though, so it could be a fruitless exercise as I expect other providers will be doing the same.
Usual Friday admin today and a dust/vac of the living room. I have a piece of fish defrosting for tonight's tea with potato croquettes and mushy peas. If there's nothing I fancy on TV tonight I'll carry on watching another episode or two of The Tudors that I missed first time round. I'm up to Anne Boleyn being ousted by Jane Seymour.
@camelot - I hope little one likes her new cardigan. I wish I could say mine is done but it's not! Still have the side seams to sew up and buttons to add.
@TA - It doesn't seem two minutes since youngest DGD was starting school and now she's looking to go to college - time flies. I hope you don't get rained on too much in Skipton.
@Gers - Hope you find the 'lost' TV remote!
@Coxy - Glad to hear the car repairs weren't quite as costly as expected. Enjoy tonight's fancy dress party.
@AA - I think I'd go for vacuuming the stairs, the lesser of two evils!
@mehefin - More housing is definitely needed due to an increased population and household dynamics that have changed over the decades so where new developments are to be built is always going to be a hot potato, with winners and losers whatever final decisions are made. The fact that councils have to meet targets set by the Government doesn't help, not everyone wants to live on what was previously a brownfield site and, as pointed out by @Floss, these are generally more expensive to build on because of the remedial work before they can be used. Sadly, infrastructure is often an after-thought too. My own feeling is a certain person's introduction of Right To Buy has only made things worse. There, I'll get off my soapbox now! 😁
@Ruby - Happy to hear you're making some progress with the utility, keep reminding yourself it will be lovely when it's finished. 😃
@MollyW - Poor you, gout really is painful. Do take the painkillers though if you need to, no point being in being in pain when you don't have to be.
Believe it or not, it was morning when I started this post but it was interrupted by a very long phone conversation with DS. He's visiting tomorrow and I have a long list of things I need him to help me with so I'll need to provide lunch to keep him going!
Have a good day whatever you're doing, hugs for those suffering with the never ending coughs. Take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Afternoon all, grey and damp here.DH &DS1 have been looking at DH classic car stored on the farm ( only usually used in the summer) where he has his work storage & hopefully have fixed the issue, just needs a bit more doing then we'll have a spare until the main car is fixed -whenever that will be, no word from the garage :(
My brother gets gout MWindley, very painful.
So many 'greenspace' areas being targeted, round here too, there is a petition going.
Hope little dog is OK RRuby.
Stir fry for tea, quick and easy after DGS school pick up. There was bad traffic yesterday, part of the road dug up due to gasworks.Luckily his school is one of the earliest to finish- it was much worse by the time we headed home.
Probably not get on over weekend so hope it's a good one for you and hope the poorlies are recovering.

Hi everyone,
I can top every one of you on the building stakes. We live three miles from the Government's proposed new town. 40,000 houses which will encompass our town and most of the others around. I'm just glad I'm not likely to be around to see it.
We had a lovely day with Nate yesterday. It was the first time for ages we had seen him on a dry day so we were outside for most of the day. He and Chris are coming over to sleep tomorrow., Crystal is going to a Uni reunion for the weekend so Chris thought it would be a good distraction for Nate who is very excited.
Take care.
