I am the agent.com

Thinking about putting our house on the market; we work we from home and are happy to do viewings, and didn't have a great experience with the local EA that sold us the house, so we are looking at alternatives.

Has anyone heard of iamtheagent.com? I'd be interested in any experiences please.

I'd strongly recommend using a local, well regarded agent. If you didn't have a good experience with the one you bought from, it's worth asking around for other recommendations.

I have rarely had any 'great experiences' over the years with EAs.

But in my experience there is often quite a bit more to selling a house than listing on Rightmove and sending you any viewers who say they want to see your specific property, which is what their service seems to be. For example, checking buyers are qualified to proceed, 'tactics' to get decent offers, sales progression after offer accepted, chasing solicitors, etc.

Looking at this particular companies website it seems they have 19 properties for sale in London against 353 rentals available, and I also checked within 40 miles of Manchester (14 against 212). So that suggests to me which service they specialise more in.

Didn't know that there were commonly such agents. Gosh, news! What evidence by any independent assessors rather than sell appointed?

    Best wishes to all

I did post in another thread about this and will expand a bit.

When we were buying our current house, our vendor was an absolute PITA. She was really late responding to her solicitor, she didn't really seem to want to sell and then on the day of exchange decided to start mucking us around.

The Estate Agent concerned, who we clearly had no relationship with - we lived 250 miles away - was amazing. And I say that as one of the "Estate Agents can be snake oil salesmen" crowd. We only got a good service from our national estate agent selling ours, because my wife worked for their head office and now she doesn't, I wouldn't touch them.

They honestly seemed to be on our side as much as the vendor - they just wanted to get it over the line of course so that they got their commission.

They phoned us daily between exchange and completion (the vendor wanted 2 weeks) and when we came to collect the keys, they greeted my wife like friends. On their way home from work, they dropped in a bottle of champagne and a card.

I'd definitely use them to sell. A good Estate Agent could be the difference between getting it over the line or not.

The agent I used was great, and I'd recommend to anyone. I'd assume that most areas will have an agent someone has good experiences with.

My house was a wildcard suggested to my buyer by the agent, and with the same agent I'd placed an offer on my new house the day before it went on rightmove.
Neither would have happened with an online agent or self-seller.

And also several tenants who thought they were useless.

From personal experience I'd plump for a good local EA with knowledge of the local market and a proactive sales progression team every time. It really is a service worth paying a bit more for IMO.

  • I am using Iamtheagent and it's a great experience. I am selling my home through their platform and doing everything myself and editing my property profile and photos when I wish too. They spread the property across so many other major platforms and I can deal with any enquiries myself. It is easy to use and an excellent price for a 9 month exposure on Rightmove, Zoopla and Prime Location plus others. I unreservedly recommend them.
