Switching from Outfox the Market - check your final bill!
Hi everyone,
Just switched away from Outfox the Market and received my final bill. Despite being within 49 days of the end of the fixed period, they charged early exit fees. The terms clearly state that if you switch within 49 days of the end of the fixed period, early exit fees will not apply - pretty standard across the industry.
I'd imagine quite a lot of you will be looking at switching around now, as in February 2025 OTM had one of the most competitive dual fuel tariffs. I'd be surprised if this was just a "mistake" isolated to my account - make sure you check your final bill fully if you're also switching away from them.
I will post back with how easy or painful it was to get these charges reversed, and the credit refunded to me. To their credit, first line customer support replied within 24hrs but all they can do is raise it with the accounts team so we will wait for them to get back to us.

Pretty shoddy behaviour IMO and deserves to be another trigger for a £40 compensation penalty for them as they are breaching the rules. I do wonder how many customers have been charged and paid this without realising. OFGEM please take note!

Interesting, I'll have a search for that.
I just can't see how this can be a genuine mistake. Its at best incompetence, and at worst intentional knowing that many customers won't check their bill in detail.
Hopefully CS get this sorted quickly and without resistance.

I'd push them for a goodwill payment in addition to the refund.

I also recall a similar post in the past couple of weeks.

They have issued a corrected bill.
Some marks for fixing the issue quickly I suppose, but it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.
