You will be able to cancel but can't insurance providers charge a setup fee regardless? £20 to £50 has been mentioned in regards to motor policies.

Have a look at topcashback. Either RAC or AA get upto £150 cashback on policies costing £250. Both do not allow cashback if you have been a member in the last 90 days. If you are already with RAC just dump and swap over to AA or vice versa.

I can still cancel within 14 days if you know of a viable alternative with personal cover?
The AA also do personal cover. They'll be my next stop when I finally get fed up of the RAC.
Then back to the RAC after that :D

Didnt know the AA did personal cover, quick online quote slightly more than my final price from RAC but onl £10 in it something to remember next year

I once had an argument when an insurer auto-renewed. I never have and in this case when I cjecked the documents when I took out the policy I noted they said they would auto-renew so I contacted them and told the I did not accept it. They wrote back and confirmed they would not do so - then did. They kept sending me requests for payment and I sent back a copy of their letter each time.
I spoke with my CC supplier who said they do not approve of Auto-renew as it causes so many problems when the car driver has not approved it
