morning everyone it’s another grey day really enjoyed the book club last night I didn’t know what to except but neither did any else I knew the girl who was starting it but no one else which is unusual for round here but it was nice to meet some new people some have only lived here a few years some where from further up the dale 16 turned up the book of choice after a spin of the wheel is called weyward not something I would normally read but that’s the point . Taff you are right I’m eventually settling in to retirement it’s taken two years I have never known anyone want to retire as much as me and I know I still have a couple of cleaning jobs and I couldn’t carry on with the job I was doing but it really hit me hard and I struggled and I couldn’t explain to anyone how I felt I never thought I would be like that and I will say this the charity shop saved me . I. Going together my eyebrows done this morning then I’m out for a meal with the charity shop at 5 tonight it’s a teatime special I will get hubby a couple of pies from the butchers that will keep him happy. I’m pleased you are feeling a bit more normal Gers .thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Morning all, thanks for today's start @Scarlet. We're back to drizzle again today with sleet possible this evening and 'feels like' temperatures around 0 deg during the day, dropping to minus overnight. Our weatherman said last night we should expect the wet weather to continue for at least another week. 🙁
I enjoyed my walk out yesterday and, although it was still chilly, it wasn't the biting cold we've had of late. I saw snowdrops and crocus in bloom, daffodils poking up through the soil and, best of all, cheerful winter flowering pansies. I must have timed it just right, not long after I got home the mist rolled back in and stayed for the rest of the day.
A council contractor should be coming this afternoon to look at the heating timer; no exact time, just between 12 noon and 4 pm but I have plenty of little pottering jobs I can do while I'm waiting. Tea tonight is sausages in BBQ sauce, a jacket potato and mixed veg. I won't be doing any more shopping this month so I've already totted up grocery spends for January and am quite disappointed with the results. I haven't gone over budget but, to say it was supposed to be a low spend month, I've spent more than I thought I would. I must do better next month! 🙄
@camelot - Sorry you didn't get your heating sorted out, I think it's called Sods Law!
@Ruby - Glad you and O had a nice walk and I hope you manage to find somewhere for your mini break.
@Gers - I'm another one that used to be guilty of keeping perfume for special occasions and then seeing it go off. We need to tell ourselves 'we're worth it' and use it daily. 😀
@AA - Xmas may have only just been and gone but the next one will be here before we know it so it's good to make an early start on your crafting.
@MollyW - Yes, please get your toe checked out; I know your DH joked it might be gout but I hope it isn't!
@Coxy - Happy birthday to your DS.
@Izzy - Glad you enjoyed the book club and met some new people. I hope you enjoy the book too.
Have a good day all, not long before the weekend rolls around again and then we'll be in a new month. Take care, especially the poorly ones and those caring for others. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all, a bit dull, grey and cold after a lovely spring like day yesterday. I have taken Ldog out, DH has been to see the accountant this morning, come back and said there is another warning light on the camper. I feel your pain re car costs Coxy, our main car has been in the garage a week but they are too busy to do it yet, might be another 2 yet .
I have actually had a good clean downstairs, feels like the 1st time in ages due to being ill , although DS2 has been very good. I still needed to get out in the fresh air daily even though it might only have been round the block with Ddog but energy is slowly returning yay! MollyW 6 weeks seems a long time for your Mum to wait :( Glad O enjoyed your walk RRuby.
Right better sort out some washing, I think . Annoyingly I thought we had an hour free leccy later, turns out it was yesterday 😏
Take care everyone, hugs to Gers

Hello all, I've been out this morning to Mr Fix It's surgery as he had an appointment but I decided to stay in the car as it gets so busy in the waiting room. Anyway his appointment ran an hour and a quarter late so I was like a block of ice 🧊 when he finally returned. He wasn't a happy bunny with the nurse either !
We were going on to the garden centre for coffee afterwards but Mr Fix It was very annoyed which is not him and I was cold so we decided to come home to a machine coffee chez nous. Best part is that he has to go back tomorrow to pick up another test 😠. I thought our surgery was bad but his takes the biscuit ! Sorry for the rant.
taff thanks for thinking about me and my Dad. He had carers but he cancelled them after 6 weeks when we were away on holiday 🤬 and there isn't anyone to step in if we don't help. DD does her best but she works full time and has her own family to care for too. He just makes me frustrated as nothing we do is good enough so it's no wonder I'm on anti depressants !
Gers I hope you are taking some time for yourself ❤️
Hope the poorly ones are on the road to recovery. Hugs to all
nan xx
