PCN challenge failed, parked on single yellow line on sunday, event day no advert for event

I parked on tennyson Road E15, on sunday. The board with parking restriction read No parking Mon-sat 7am-7pm(I parked on a single yellow line.) Since I was parked there on Sunday 11 Jan 2026, my understanding was that no parking restriction apply. I received a PCN by warden( contravention code 01)

I appealed to Newham council and today it was rejected stating that it was an event day West ham Utd vs Queen Park Rangers at London stadium and event rules apply.

There was no advertisement for event day, secondly I have no interest in such an event, so how will I know there is an event. Lastly there is a residential parking bay with restrictions and clear instruction about event day parking rules. The signage for single yellow line does not provide any instructions that the event days rules will apply on single yellow as well.

I don't agree with their decision, and I am advised to either pay reduced price of £80 in 14 days or go to london tribunal if disagree.I have provided the pics of both signs

We agree with you BTW.

That sign is ambiguous because they've put the sentence about event days underneath the headline 'Mon-Sat' which stands alone on its own line.

Therefore everything below is Mon-Sat. Looks like it to me, anyway.
