Sadly at times like these, decisions are made during a period of intense emotions, this is natural given the situation. I am truly sorry for you loss. Having recently lost my parents I know the process.

Given that you daughter had money in the bank, this appears to zero any support that could have been provided. Had she not, then DWP May well have provided an amount for a basic funeral. (Using you figure of £1945). At that point with £1945 provided if you then agreed ee with the directors a funeral of £4000, then I’d expect you to be paying the extra £2055.

Sadly, you’ve used her money, and paid £950 on the understanding DWP May assist. Having then check with DWP you realise this is not the case. For once the advice from DWP seems correct.

During Covid I was given a link through my previous employer, for ways they could assist. They couldn’t as it turned out. But having worked through the application it came up with a list of potential other organisations, employment linked (guilds and associations) depending on where you or your daughter have worked, their might be another way to get assistance.
