eDreams Prime – recurring charges I don’t recall signing up for. Anyone else?

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to hear from others who may have had similar issues with eDreams Prime.

I recently discovered that I’ve been charged annually since 2023 for an eDreams Prime membership. I genuinely do not recall knowingly signing up to this subscription. When I logged into my eDreams account, the information available about when or how the membership was activated (and the renewal terms) was very limited and unclear.

I’ve since contacted eDreams by phone and cancelled the membership (it expires on 27 Jan), but I’m disputing the previous charges on the basis that I don’t believe I gave informed consent to an auto-renewing subscription, and I don’t recall receiving clear renewal reminders. Notably, eDreams only seems to offer phone support for Prime issues, which makes getting things in writing difficult.

I’d be grateful to know:

  • Has anyone else experienced unexpected or unclear eDreams Prime charges?
  • Were you able to get a refund or succeed via a chargeback?
  • Is this a known issue with how the Prime membership is sold or renewed?
  • Any advice on the best next steps from a consumer rights perspective?

Thanks in advance for any shared experiences or guidance.

When you do a flight search on eDreams each result will give 2 different prices

a discounted "Prime Fare" which comes with a free trial of Prime membership…may have been 30 days or such after which time it will kick in to be a paid annual membership (it is now 15 days free trial)

they will also give a higher priced "non-discounted" fare

many people select the cheaper fare and neglect to read fully the terms they are agreeing to so miss cancelling within the trial period

there are many threads on the Air Travel forum of TripAdvisor with people that have had the same issue. eDreams will be able to show that you did sign up (by selecting the discounted fare and agreeing to the t&cs) so would not expect any refund or chargeback. I don't think they issue any annual reminders, you will have agreed to it continuing until you cancel

You could look at the website on a dummy flight booking to see the information that would have been available, have a look at the 'i' for information under the fare - there will also be information in the terms and conditions you will needed to have agreed to.

Best you can do now is cancel to ensure you do not get charged in the future, there is a phone number in this article
