Extending backpackers travel insurance
hi, my son has been travelling in Asia for 8 months and has decided he wants to stay another 6 months as he has now qualified as a scuba diving instructor. He took out an initial 8 month single trip policy with LV insurance who have been excellent- he has already claimed for a stolen phone and they paid up quickly. They have also extended his policy to cover some of the extra time he wants (up to 366 days) free of charge. As he is still travelling he cannot get a new policy with LV so he needs to go to a different company. Can anyone recommend an insurance company who will do this and have good reviews? Thanks

Might have to be careful around T&Cs for "travel" insurance if he is now working as a scuba instructor.

thanks, yes I should have explained he will be getting his own work insurance for the instructing. The cover he is looking for is general travel insurance

Most travel insurance requires the trip to start in the UK from the date of inception, but in some cases backpacker cover is one of the exceptions to this, Travel Nomads is one of the companies mentioned previously who offer this, although on searching it appears they may now be called World Nomads.
