Has anyone had had dealings with Montford & Co?
My wife ordered some clothes which were slow to arrive and when they did arrive, were of poor quality.
Obviously she then wished to return them only to find out they expect her to return them to their warehouse in China (the cost is prohibitive).
Montford appear to be Uk based but are in fact registered in the Netherland and their T @ C
say the contract is subject to Dutch Law.
They do say that returns are at the cost of the buyer but do not say that this is to China.
Trustpilot has many posting similar experiences.
We are not sure of our legal position here but have contacted our credit card company.

Chances are that the card company will process a chargeback for you, but only if you return the goods....0

No they don't. They have a Dutch address and phone number on their home page, I can't see anything claiming to be uk-based.happyandcurious said:

As you have the goods I cannot see why you expect your card company to do anything.happyandcurious said:Has anyone had had dealings with Montford & Co?

Once again, a case of not reading the Ts and Cs or ascertaining who you were dealing with.0 -
What made you think they were UK based?happyandcurious said:Has anyone had had dealings with Montford & Co?

I hate to say it, but with a dutch based Chinese drop shipper your legal position is irrelevant. You will really struggle to get anywhere enforcing your legal rights, or with getting a chargeback from your bank which would require you to return the goods to China.happyandcurious said:Has anyone had had dealings with Montford & Co?

Your best bet is to push them as hard as possible and take the biggest discount you can get, them chalk it up to experience.0 -
There is nothing on that website that suggests they’re UK based. It amazes me that people are quite happy to pay money to a company they’ve never heard of or researched. Then expect their bank to bail them
out.I’m a bit of a shopaholic, but I’m spoiled for choice with well known UK retailers to choose from.2 -
Was OP thinking they were uk due to?
Company number: 88613534
Looking at the returns section. It has a link to the download the return form. which has address on
NAME: MONTFORD & CO ADDRESS: BUILDING 4, 4TH FLOOR,58 BAIYE ROAD CITY: DONGGUAN POSTAL CODE: 523000 PROVINCE: GUANGDONG COUNTRY: CHINA
TBH. This is one company that could not make anything clearer...Life in the slow lane0 -
Yet another thread about items ordered from a company that insists on returns to China.
The internet is not the fluffy friendly place that some people think it is.
If the OP had simply scrolled to the bottom of the home page, it's clear that this is not a UK based company.

Really?
Your wife was just ordering some clothes.
It's just gobbledegook copied and pasted from another website.
The time to check reviews is before you click on 'pay'. Not after.
You can't expect a refund whilst you still have the goods. (I wouldn't advise you to do this)
If these posts sound harsh to the OP, it's because there are so many similar threads.
Did your wife find the link on Facebook?

Unfortunately there is nothing at all on their website that appears to imply they're a UK company. The "contact us" address is Netherlands.happyandcurious said:Has anyone had had dealings with Montford & Co?

I have no idea about Dutch consumer rights, but regardless this would only mean at best you'd have to return to Netherlands rather than China, but if their consumer laws say otherwise then that's no help.
So you either return them to China (their website says free of charge if they are faulty) or you just leave a poor review and move on and accept the loss.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.
Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.
