TV Bracket Recommendation

Hi,

I have one wall to hang a 65 inch TV and I need a bracket that can extend so I can move the TV slightly off the wall forwards, as I want to put a PS5 and tv box on brackets behind it.

Any recomendations?

We've bought quite a few at different price points - our 65 inch is on an £18 one from Amazon but it's flush.  We also have a sway-arm one that was £60ish which works really well.  Depending on what spacing you need, the sway arm ones will come out and back to the wall if the arms are folder in behind.  They do allow a lot of lateral movement or just out and back if that's what you want, but of course the folder up arms do take up some space behind which might interfere with your other bracket.

In terms of quality and strength, they have always been fine.  Just ensure you use the correct fixings to the wall.  Weirdly the instructions all say that you should be fixing to brick or timber studs, but that's nearly impossible unless you can find a horizontal stud at the exact height you want.  I've always used proper hollow wall anchors and have had no problems, despite everyone saying they'll rip out the plasterboard

Maybe I'm just being over-cautious, but I've never really trusted "plasterboard plugs" for anything reasonably heavy.  My reasoning is that the fixings can be the best in the world, but plasterboard itself is pretty flimsy stuff.
When I mounted our TV, I put up a reasonably sturdy batten horizontally, making sure that was screwed firmly into studs, then attached the TV mount to that.  So the weight is being taken by the studs, not the plasterboard.  Since it's quite a bit shorter in length than the width of the TV, you can't see it behind the TV.
As I say, maybe I'm just worrying about nothing, but at least I know in my own mind that the TV ain't falling down in a month of Sundays.

  • We have a couple of Sanus brackets from Richer Sounds which are excellent. Easy to fit, level and adjust.

If your wall is dot and dab (you don’t say what type in your post) then Corefix 100 are excellent fixings for fairly heavy items like TVs.

Of course it's possible the OP has solid walls, in which case the choice of fixing is simpler (even if drilling the hole might be more work). I'd use a decent set of screws and nylon wall plugs - decent stuff from the likes of Fischer, not the cheap rubbish that tends to be thrown in free - and pay attention to the instructions in terms of the size and depth of hole to drill.

Bought a 65" tv some years back and used AVF to get it flush as all stick out too far. Its on plasterboard using correct fixings, you can swing off it if done right.

+1 on the Sanus. Bought one at Costco last black Friday.
