Right to rent

in terms of not issuing a contract that obviously contravene the person's right to stay in the uk. if his visa expires on 12 August then it would be safe to end the contract on the day his visa expires rather than give him a one year contract.
the home office has confirmed that he has the right to rent for one year from the notice of intent that we had submitted, which is beyond his visa end date, which I take to mean that they want to give him time to apply for an extension and that they know AST will be 12 months, or that landlords will be looking to issue 12 months contracts and they don't want refugees to lose out on housing because of the expiry date on your travel documents while awaiting reviews.
