Ovo Energy - demands for payment for previous occupier. I am an Octopus customer

To add a complication to this scenario, I actually had an overlap when changing apartments so I could have a week to move at my leisure. Octopus were my suppliers at the new apartment on 12 November and also my suppliers at the old apartment until 19 November when I gave them a final reading. I gave a closing reading to Ovo on 12 November even though they were not my supplier and the same reading to Octopus as an opening reading.0

If I'm reading it correctly you took responsibility on 2nd property on the 12th Nov and had the switch from OVO to Octopus on that date. The 1st property you moved out on the 19th Nov. The second part has no bearing on the first part.
Briefly you were a customer with Ovo on the 12th Nov that day of the switch, But as you will start paying Octopus on the 12th, then there is no money due to Ovo, as Ovo should charge up to and including the 11th.
Let's Be Careful Out There0 -

I rather thought it was the new supplier's responsibility to inform the old one of the opening reading, which will be subject to validation by the mysterious third-party (actually a fourth party: 1 - the customer, 2 - the old supplier, 3 - the new supplier and 4 - the data service provider).debitcardmayhem said:How did you give Ovo a closing reading ?

Ovo sent a final bill dated 28 October 2025 addressed to the Occupier for £126.37 stating the amount was overdue. I moved in on 12 November 2025. I sent the final bill back to Ovo as I have done with the countless demands sent ever since.

Were you then responsible for the bills at the new flat from 29/10 to 12/11 when moved in ?Or was their a void period - your landlord could have been responsible for ?And what start date was on the first Octopus bill for the new flat ?Ive only ever done the changes - registering with deemed on the day - and the new later - or a few days later in many cases. So a little surprised to see Octopus email dated 30/10.0 -
I would think the Landlord must be responsible for the supply from Ovo until 12 November 2025 when I moved in. I know the apartment had been empty for at least since October 2024 as I saw it empty. The previous occupant Ms X would be responsible for the 3 weeks she was in this apartment, but I guess she never registered with Ovo. An Ovo employee mentioned a "shell account" whatever that is, and then asked if I could send her a copy of Ms X's rental agreement agreement! As if! Ludicrous request.Scot_39 said:elstree324 said:Ovo sent a final bill dated 28 October 2025 addressed to the Occupier for £126.37 stating the amount was overdue. I moved in on 12 November 2025. Was 12th November the start date on your agreement with the landlord?elstree324 said:
