Just realised freehold wasn't transferred!

Hi all,
We bought a house 12 years ago. The sellers had 50/50 shared ownership with the housing association. On completion our solicitors arranged for them to purchase the freehold and then transfer it to us. We have documents explaining this was going to happen, but can't locate any final confirmations (House buying isn't a normal thing to do regularly and we assumed solicitors were doing what they had documented they would do).
On remortgaging this year, we've been informed we have a leasehold, not freehold. we've stated this isn't the case but on paying £7 to download the titles we can see our name is on the leasehold but the sellers is on the freehold!
I've made contact with the solicitors from back then but heard nothing yet.
Can anyone offer:.
a) any advice
b) what steps we should take next
c indication of likely outcome/costs - although we feel strongly this is a balls up by the solicitors and they should just fix it (but worry they won't).
Huge thanks in advance 🙏

Start collecting together any letters, documents, emails, etc. you were given at the time of the purchase.
If you go to the solicitor’s web site, you should find their complaints process. Follow it.

What method did you use and how long have you given them so far? They may need some time to investigate but you should at least get an acknowledgement that they're looking into it. I wouldn't bother fretting about it beyond that at this stage.0 -
Thanks. Only a couple of days but just after a bit of an idea of what we can expect.user1977 said:

Thanks. We will do. Going to give them 5-10 days to reply and if not start that process. Hoping we just dont get brushed off due to how much time has passed.jaybeetoo said:Start collecting together any letters, documents, emails, etc. you were given at the time of the purchase.

Just to provide an update. Solicitors have got back to us - appears an administrative error between them and the land registry. They are confident they can successfully transfer the property freehold as originally planned.
