Parking fine but have the ticket
Hi I'm just looking for some advice on a parking fine I received from Euro Car Parks (even though I paid and have proof).
I paid with cash at the machine instead of paybyphone. It said to enter full reg plate details and I cannot see why I would not have entered these fully but on the ticket it only had the first 4 digits. The minimum amount was for 2 hours and I was done and put in just over an hour.
3 months later I received a letter from a debt collection agency saying I owed £145 for not paying a parking fine from that day and that I have been sent 2 letters previously from Euro Car Parks (which I have not received).
Euro Car Parks will not allow me to appeal it now as it is with the debt collectors. The debt place have said I can refuse and it will bounce back to Euro Car Parks who will probably take me to court.
I have my ticket still. But it only has the first 4 digits of my reg. I have been back to the machine since with a fictional number plate and it did print the whole reg number.
What I want to know is would I stand any chance not paying the debt, having it passed back to Euro Car Parks and showing this ticket?
My rationale to the missing letters is I paid the ticket, so if I received letters why would ignore them when I had proof.

There was a BBC article last year about this:

We have a machine near us, and it's very slow to respond to the keyboard. Several times I have ended up with tickets for the registration AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAB12CDE0 -

If there's a lesson here, it's to look at the screen and make sure you've entered the reg correctly...WellKnownSid said:
