Morning all
Dry here for now but rain due later the garden is a muddy mess and a few roads around here have been closed due to floods, I have looked at the weather and we are due rain for the next two weeks!
I have a wash on the go and another to go in after they will both have to stay indoors to dry, I shall light the fire later which helps.
Camelot big dog had her bandage off and it all looks nice and clean, we are just taking her on short lead walks for the moment.
I need to do a bit of housework this morning and put all the washing away, and this afternoon I am going to start doing my invoices for the month to get ready to send them all out next week - it’s been a long month.
Dinner tonight will be satay chicken with rice noodles, dd is working a sleep in so she will eat at work. OH has a private job on today in our village so will probably be home earlier than usual.
Gers I am sorry to hear the news is not good for Lionel, I hope he is comfortable at least, take care of yourself too xxx
Topsy fingers crossed for you xx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Morning! Raining again but a promise of no rain in a couple of hours, hopefully that takes because I want to go and dig the fruit cage. The speaker last night was very interesting, it's all about how he farms with wildlife in mind and what he and his family do to mitigate environmental impacts and increase biodiversity. There was a funny thing at the beginning though because someone wanted to do a short speech about veganuary which was an interesting counterpoint to his talk considering they farm livestock. He handled it beautifully though, because there's room for all sorts in this world. I also came away with another plant for free so very happy about that... I've put a spellcheck on my browser to try and avoid all the typos I usually do and it seems to be working because now there are big red marks all over my post so I can correct them
I've got a chicken to roast afterwards, and I made a pumpkin cake last night so we're good for food for the next couple of days. We're out on Sunday for a Christmas meal with friends so no cooking required then
Gers, sorry about the news about Lionel. No, never easy...dp1, hopefully they'll kick the virus out for you now...Ruby, nice to hear your bigdog is recovering well. How are the repairs coming along? Allie, don't go doing too much about the place. Izzy, buzzy as usual then
happy birthday to your dd...camelot, that's a list of things to sort! Coxy, shame about the cars, good job they can be fixed..good mechanics are like any tradesmen, absolute gold dust, keep hold of him! TA, well done tackling the freezer! Want to do mine? Right, breakfast time, take care all, and get well soon...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9 -
Morning All
Gers sorry to hear the news about Lionel. Hope he enjoys his visit from his neice and you and id made as comfortable.
Like Coxy we have had not had a good week car wise. DH car went for service on Wednesday and was then due its mot. Had a call in the afternoon to say all 4 tyres need replacing, called our local place and they have been set to be delivered on Tuesday. This is not a good month as tax, insurance and mot all due at same time. Hey ho at least i have put money aside.
DP1 hope the 2nd lot of tabs start to do their job soon.
TA I am feeling like you about wether I cba to do tidies today and I will be so glad when January is over. We hope to do some decorating late spring so maybe that will lift the moid.
Sending hugs to all who want them all the poorlies and those looking after others

Good morning
So sorry to hear that the news is not good for Lionel, take care of yourself too.
Dull again and rain expected later. Salmon for tea. Nothing else to report today, sorry to be boring.
Hugs to all who need them, take care.10 -
Hi everyone,
I didn't get on yesterday, it was a Nate day and Steve had the man flu so I went by myself. I spent most of the day crawling around pushing a tractor so I was tired by the time I got home. Luckily it was a short day because Crystal had a couple of medical appointments so she didn't go into London. I'm surprised I don't feel stiff today though.
I had to break off to go for coffee with a couple of friends so I'll just finish now before I rearrange some kitchen cupboards that have been bugging me for a while. One is the spice shelf which is very full and everything gets put back at the front of the shelf until the jars start to fall out when the door is opened. There are some things that have been in there too long and have been used very little (I'm looking at you asafoetida) so I think the time is ripe for a clear out.
I'm sorry Lionel@s news isn't so good Gers.
Hugs to all the poorly people.
Have a good day.9 -
Afternoon all, thanks @Gers for starting off today's Daily.
It's a dull and grey day again but not raining at the moment although, looking at the puddles, I suspect there was a lot overnight and more to come this afternoon. Looking ahead, next week looks pretty much the same. On the plus side, it's replacing the threatened snow and sleet.
I didn't clean the bathroom tiles yesterday, just couldn't be bothered, but they'll wait for another day. Before I retired I had a strict cleaning routine but nowadays I'm much more relaxed, doing things as and when they need doing. Besides, there are only so many hours in a day and there are far more interesting and fun things to fit in those hours!
The banana & walnut loaf turned out well (very moreish) so I'll transfer that recipe over to my new book. Thanks to old and dodgy fingers that are making things ever more difficult (eg chopping veggies, slicing bread etc), I'm having to fall back on making more use of appliances such as the food processor etc rather than doing everything by hand and this recipe is ideal. Said loaf is now sliced and frozen.
Usual weekly admin today with the addition of investigating if it's worth changing my current fixed price energy plan to a new one and making sure my Will is up to date. I'll also review the 'When I've Gone' notebook where I keep the things my Executor (DS) will need to know as I think there may be a couple of things that have changed. Hardly a cheery subject, I know, but needs must. The BM is whirring away with a white loaf, I've made four individual pots of fruit & jelly and for tea will be having a fish fillet with baby potatoes, peas & sweetcorn. The freezer and pantry are definitely earning their corn this month!
I hope everyone's car problems don't result in big bills, likewise for those having issues with household appliances.
@camelot - Sounds like a busy day for you!
@Gers - I'm sorry to hear it's not going well for Lionel and I hope any future treatment can make him as comfortable and pain free as possible. Lots of decisions to be made too, no doubt.
@TA - Fingers crossed the Krypton Factor photos help with putting the vac back together!
@Izzy - Happy birthday to your DiL tomorrow.
@dp1 - Good to hear the AB's seem to be working, you have a lot on your plate at the moment though so take it easy - the ironing can wait!
@-taff - I don't have spell check on because I find it annoying when it insists on defaulting to the American way of spelling! I hope the rain eases off enough for you to get that new plant in and that you enjoy the belated Christmas dinner.
@snoozer - My asafoetida went in the bin too! Have you thought about confining the jars of herbs, spices etc in some sort of container on the shelf?
Right, tea break over, time for paperwork. Have a good day and try not to get too wet if you're out and about. Hugs for the poorly people, take care. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
I keep my herbs & spices in an old large Tupperware so they are confined - they all have labels on the top so can be easily identified 😉YorksLass said:

@floss (and @snoozer) - Mine used to be on a herb/spice rack on the worktop but when the kitchen was refitted I ended up with a narrow cupboard with a drawer above at the end of a run of base units. The cupboard stores baking trays and the drawer is ideal for those little jars - keeps them together and limits how many I can have!

Sorry the news about Lionel isn't great @Gers. I hope he is comfortable and at least you know he is warm and safe xx
I have some wham trays for my spice jars @snoozer. Used to have a staged shelf in the cupboard but it was hard to see those at the back, and we kept knocking them over. I have just googled asafoetida!
