Motor Insurance Comparison Sites - No option for "Drive Other Car" to be included?

I have been shopping around for motor insurance through the comparison web sites, surprised that my insurance has risen significantly this year, more than double from last year.
One thing with these comparison sites is that there no mention of the option of "Drive Other Car" (DOC) included with any of the quotes. I always prefer this option. Is there a way to find out before committing on purchasing a new policy?

Is DOC even worth getting? It's bonkers to lend a vehicle to someone knowing it's only got 3rd party cover.0

depends on the value of the car.0

True. I once worked with someone who, when they filled their car up, used to double the value of it!0

I have DOC with Aviva which I have used a couple of.times this year. That said they offer two variants of the policy and the higher version allows you to add a car for either three or five days with fully comp cover. When I took that variant out it wasn't massively more expensive.
Might be worth looking into if that type of facility would be useful.1 -

The policy is only available after the purchase.XRS200 said:

Not in my experience. Most policies are available on linejazzy said:

The problem is that you need to read the schedule to say definitively. If a policybook doesnt mention DoC then clearly you dont have it but if it does mention DoC it normally refers you to the schedule or certificate for confirmation you have it.XRS200 said:

Sometimes you can tell online or you can contact the seller to confirm before buying.jazzy said:I have been shopping around for motor insurance through the comparison web sites, surprised that my insurance has risen significantly this year, more than double from last year.

The problem with DoC is firstly do they offer it to anyone? Secondly do they offer it via this particular variant of the product? Finally DoC normally comes with some licence requirements like being over 21 and/or holding a full licence for at least 1 year.
With the race to the bottom to get cheaper prices its an easy thing to remove when you sell via aggregators to get your quote a few quid cheaper and so higher up the ranking.
Thats more the vehicle owner's consideration than the OP given they can't use DoC on a vehicle they own or is hired/financed to them.TadleyBaggie said:Is DOC even worth getting? It's bonkers to lend a vehicle to someone knowing it's only got 3rd party cover.
If you look at some mid net worth and higher policies however the DoC gives comprehensive cover not the normal TPO1 -
Unfortunately it is the case you need to read the offer before buying. Different brands of the same insurer will make different offers. Some entry level brands which I have been attracted to on price, have had no DOC cover which I do need as I can be called to drive other vehicles unexpectedly.1

DOC can be useful. I had a phone call from the wife of my neighbour. He hadn't been feeling well so drove himself to the local A&E. They decided to keep him in and his wife doesn't drive. The car was parked on the road and needed to be moved. With DOC I could do that for him.1
