Used car warranty

Hi everyone,
I bought a used car in November and it came with a three months warranty from the dealer. I took out the extra warranty which was for a year and was told at the time that this came into affect straight away and wasn't added to the three months dealer warranty.
Fast forward to now, my car has developed a fault,so I rang the dealer I bought it from to get it looked at. Basically they have said because I took out the extra warranty I have to go through that, I argued that the car was still under their 3 months warranty and it is down to them to fix it, and they said it's not. I feel like I have been left stranded. Surely if they give a 3 month warranty regardless of me taking the extra warranty, they should fix it.
Any advice welcome

It sounds like youve replaced their 3 month warranty with the extended one under a new provider, so you don't have a 3 month dealer warranty to claim under.

What you do have are your consumer rights (SADFART), which cannot be removed and are with the dealer. It may be easier to claim under the warranty, but if you really want to go via the sealer you'll need to do so via the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Regardless of any warranty they may have given, under the Consumer Rights Act any fault within the first 6 months is assumed to have been inherent in the car when you bought it, unless they can show otherwise.  That means that it is their responsibility to fix the problem.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Have you spoken to the extra warranty company? Unlikely to have 2 separate warranties at the same time, so they may have meant the extended warranty supersedes their 3 month warranty. Main thing is to get the car fixed.
