Morning everyone
Still feeling rubbish and have just taken the last of the antibiotics and steroids so I've done an e consult for some more. I'm hoping they will prescribe them without having to go in for an appointment will just have to wait and see.
TA I've been online shopping too and have new pans coming today and a new rug for little ones bedroom tomorrow. I'm going to clean out the pan cupboard before they come, so at least that will be one job done.
I had a nice chat with little one before she went to bed last night, all about her day at school, she was very impressed I knew about the walls of Jericho, though I couldn't remember the whole story!
Thank you all for the get well messages and I send the same to everyone else who is poorly or injured.
Gers glad you found Lionel in good spirits yesterday.
Izzy I've the same voucher for Lidl this week, but I haven't been eating much so I don't need to spend £40.
Coxy I hope the cars get sorted
Hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Morning allBreakfast in bed this morning. Put TV on to watch the news to cheer me up (joking!) and my S*y wouldn't come on. Came downstairs to reset the box but still dead as a doornail. Looked online and HDMI cable keeps coming up so waiting DH to come home from work at lunchtime to see if he can solve it as it's not in my pay grade
Just hoovered dusted and cleaned bathroom upstairs so now enjoying coffee.Glad Lionel is brighter @GersHope everyone feeling ill starts to feel better soon xHave a good day all x12 -
Morning! After yesterdays sun but very windy it turned to rain last night and hasn't stopped. Indoors today I think. I did make the sfoglia lorda last night, almost a disaster but some edible stuff remains. The problem is I don't have wooden board to roll out pasta and I don't have a simple pastry cutter. So I made do with the pasta machine which was ok, and then tried to use the ravioli cutter I have which was no good, the pasta kept sliding about on the worktop so instead of neat little postage stamps, they're bigger and twisted. Lesson learned for next time. Pastry cutter on the list of things to buy
And pasta board...Not planning anything today, ankle is dodgy after allotment visit yesterday so I may just eat, drink and be merry
Gers, good to hear you managed to see the doctor and Lionle was on good form. dp1, they usually will, and well done for resting...do more of it
Ruby, hope your dog has recovered from her op yesterday...remmie, well done for biting the bullet and driving...Yorkslass, it's nice you enjoyed what you used to watch together. Right, must go and have breakfast to set me up for my day of nothing
take care all, poorlies get well!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Hi everyone,
We're back from Bristol, we've got today off then have Nate tomorrow. We had a very quiet few days because we were toilet training Esther. Laura was spoilt with Esben who basically trained himself at age two and a quarter, both day and night. Esther has not been at all interested until lately. Anyway, it seems she's well on the way now, she's at nursery today so hopefully she won't get too distracted and forget. The quiet days seem to have sorted my ankle, thanks for asking Coxy.
Steve went down to the Pembrokeshire Holiday let with Brian, they are having solar panels and heat pumps in the big hose and one of the smaller houses (the other two smaller properties were done a couple of years ago) and they want to do some other repairs as well. The upshot is that we are going back to Bristol next Friday and Steve will go down to help with the diy (or rather Brian will help Steve).
Chrisca, talking about tech being above your pay grade I had a chat to Steve about this house. We have solar panels, a battery, heat pump, not to mention automatic blinds and lamps. Steve controls them all with his phone which is nice and easy for me but I told him that if he dies first I will have to sell the house because I have no clue how anything works. He can't share with me because I prefer an android phone so we've decided to get an i-pad and he will show me how everything works, I just need to keep his explanations in check because he has a tendency to believe everyone finds it as fascinating as him. Everything is on a spreadsheet and this is the man who did a test for autism and said that he wasn't fascinated by data. I couldn't understand how I scored higher on the test than him until I saw some of his answers. Wish me luck.
Thinking of all the poorly people, especially dp1 and Lionel.
Have a good day.

Hello all, it's very wet here. Sadly I had to go out for a GP appointment, I now have more x rays, blood tests and meds to deal with, it's all getting me down.
Yesterday I had no joy at Dad's re his missing meds, he refused to let me look upstairs and cba to look himself. So I refused to order him any more as they aren't due and told him to sort it out himself. My guess is he won't bother and all he went on about was where he should move his money to get the best return 🤬 He could give Scrooge a run for his money, I wish we had that problem !
Just having a coffee before I tackle my crockery cupboard as I nearly had a disaster with a pile of tea plates which were making a bid for freedom last night, I think need to distribute the weight a bit better.
Crisca have you tried to unplug the box then wait a minute and plug it back in ? That worked when I couldn't watch any recorded stuff. HTH.
Hugs to the poorly ones ( and Lionel ) and anyone having a tough time.

Good morning everyone (just)
I have been missing for a couple of days, I have been trying to catch up with a few things that needed sorting.
Pleased to hear Lionel is more comfortable and I hope Dp1 improves soon.
My cough has been lingering since Boxing day but touch wood, it is less troublesome now.
It is grey and damp here, rain expected soon and despite the weather forecasters saying it's mild, it feels quite chilly to me.
Something out of the freezer for tea, I think it will be a curry of some description that should warm me up a little.
So thoughts are with the sad, lonely and poorlies as always.
Take care x

@nannywindow yes I have done that a couple of times. The strange thing is the mini box we have upstairs wasn't working but now it is! I think there must be something wrong with one of the leads on the downstairs one. Gives me an excuse to lay in bed all afternoon and watch tv lol12

Afternoon all, thanks for the start @Gers. You did have a long day yesterday but I'm glad to hear Lionel was in good form, I'm sure he appreciated the time you spent with him. Happy hair cut for today.

Another dull and dreary day in store weather-wise and, like @TA, I'm not looking forward to the snow and sleet that's expected for next week. Yesterday's weather was as predicted although the breeze kept the temperatures down; it was a lot cooler than I expected when I nipped up to the Co-op but there was some brightness and at least I didn't get rained on. Only six items bought and, after using a couple of MOCs, my spend was a (very) small one of just over £5.
Nothing exciting happening today and I've already done all the boring day to day stuff so this afternoon I'll plod on with the cardigan sewing up by setting in the other sleeve whilst watching more indoor bowling. It will keep me away from the online sales which is how I ended up with two pairs of footwear the other week!
January doesn't do the finances any favours. Easy dinner tonight of fishcake with a couple of potato croquettes from the freezer and the last of the current batch of braised red cabbage. There's still two more batches in the freezer but they'll get eaten at some stage.
@Izzy - Those shopping vouchers are far too tempting, aren't they? Like you, I have a full freezer and plenty of pantry stores but there's always that FOMO feeling. Keep repeating to yourself "I will resist"!
@Chrisca - I was also going to suggest the unplug-wait-plug back in remedy but @nanny beat me to it!
@snoozer - Good plan to bring yourself up to speed with the tech stuff, it's not my forte either. I've only just realised I don't have to have my new wifi enabled smart TV where the old one was.
When I start on the spring cleaning it will be moved and the furniture re-arranged more to my liking.
@nanny - I'm so sorry you have yet more medical stuff to deal with on top of trying to do your best for your 'difficult' Dad. Easier said than done, but be kind to yourself whenever you get the chance.
There are too many poorly ones on here to mention individually so I'm sending you all my very best wishes for a swift recovery or at least some improvement, no matter how slow. Have the best day you can, take care and stay safe. XX
Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Well the car woes continue apace!! DH and DD set off for the station and phoned me 5 minutes later having broken down in DH's car. TBF it's an 04 reg Clio that was DD's and he just uses it for work. I slung my coat over my PJs put on some trainers and went to rescue them. Got there to see DH's car now fully working but I still took DD to the station and let DH go to pick up DS1.
DS1 has a 74 reg all electric Ford which has developed a clunking sound when turning the steering wheel. Apparently it's a known issue and they will fix for free, but aren't recalling any back - beggers belief.
Then to top it all, I drove to work in our 16 reg VW and the airbag warning light came on! I was really worried about driving it home but DH says it means the airbag won't deploy if I'm in an accident rather than it going off and suffocating me.
So that's 4 out of 5 cars with issues. Could not make it up!
Is it wine o'clock yet?
