7) What are the advantages or benefits of selling household items on Vinted compared to Facebook Messenger?

8) Is there an option to re-upload or relist an advert after a certain period, such as after one week? How does the re-upload or re-listing process work?

9) Are there any pitfalls or common mistakes to avoid when using Vinted for selling items? which you have been through ?

10) Does Vinted lack any features on their selling platform which Gumtree/fb marketplace/ebay have?

    You're comparing apples with oranges.

FB Marketplace and Gumtree orders are typically collected. Vinted & eBay orders are typically posted.

These two types of models expectedly come with differing terms: Facebook won't help you if the shirt you collected was the wrong size (and payments are handled directly between the parties) - Vinted and eBay would help (and payments are mostly handled through them).

I love marketplace (though hate the people on it - love/hate relationship), but the audience is inevitably much smaller as you are limited to those nearby. For some items (particularly bulky ones, e.g. used furniture/white goods/etc) marketplace makes the most sense as postage would be uneconomical.

    QUESTIONS
    1) What are the main differences between selling on Vinted, Gumtree, and Facebook Messenger?
*Marketplace not messenger. As above, Marketplace & Gumtree sales are usually collected by the customer, Vinted & eBay are usually posted to the customer.

    2) How does the process of uploading adverts differ between Vinted and platforms like Facebook Messenger or Gumtree?
Similar, take a few pictures and a brief description.

    3) How does the buyer typically collect their purchased item when you sell via your advert? Are there any differences in collection methods when using Gumtree or Facebook Messenger?
It's not common to collect - 99% of sales are posted on Vinted using the shipping methods you allow.

    5) Can local people, friends, or neighbors identify that you are the seller just by viewing your advert? Or can they tell by looking at your profile?
Not unless your profile contains personal info.

    6) Do buyers generally pay with cash, or are there other payment options available?
While it's possible to meet in person and take cash (and mark it as paid), 99% of the time you will receive the money from Vinted into your account, not the buyer. The reason for this is Vinted holds onto the money from the buyer until the buyer confirms the goods were received and as described.

    7) What are the advantages or benefits of selling household items on Vinted compared to Facebook Messenger?
    Significantly larger audience, effectively nationwide.

    8) Is there an option to re-upload or relist an advert after a certain period, such as after one week? How does the re-upload or re-listing process work?
Not as I'm aware, but you can re-upload a listing if there was an issue completing the sale.

    9) Are there any pitfalls or common mistakes to avoid when using Vinted for selling items? which you have been through ?
You should be mindful of scammers (though risk depends on what you're selling - phones you should tread carefully but low value household items less so). Some may claim a different item was received and return it back to you at your cost (whereas in reality they've swapped your new/real item with their old/fake one). There's no 100% way to prevent this but just make sure you document the packing/posting process, particularly on high risk items like electronics.

    10) Does Vinted lack any features on their selling platform which Gumtree/fb marketplace/ebay have? It's strange to say this but similar to eBay, Vinted will generally side with the buyer which can be particularly frustrating when they're trying it on. At least on marketplace it's impossible for a customer to, say, accidently break the item and then pretend it arrived broken for a refund.

    11) Is vinted used to sell mainly household things, for a clearance? (old lamp, table, 2nd hand sofa etc) or as a business, selling things in bulk you create? (such as handmade bracelets)
It's mainly used for clothes. As items are posted, tables/sofas/etc are not economical. Handmade bracelets would be more suited than furniture, FB Marketplace is best for that.

Please answer as many as you can, in 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6)  etc format please, so that they are easy to follow.

    Thanks.

Speaking purely for my private sales Vinted outsells everything . Facebook marketplace is absolutely dead, I gave up gumtree years ago as it was just scammers.

However as above Vinted is purely post based, collection is not possible. According to the rules deleting and relisting is not allowed , but everyone does it, you do need new photos though as they pick up on reused ones.

    2) Vinted is very similar to eBay, you do need to stick to the correct categories (they don’t allow everything to be sold) photos, description and the equivalent of the SD postage on eBay.

    3) as above collection is not allowed.

    5) profiles are scant, I wouldn’t think anything was really identifiable. Obviously your buyers will know as labels have a Return address encoded.

    6) Vinted handle all payments and like eBay charge the buyer a fee.

    7) if they can be posted then the market looking at your sales on Vinted is huge compared to Facebook.

    8) covered above

    9) the usual scammers of course , I tend to limit the cost of my items to less than £50.

    10) not that I can think of

    11) hand made items are not allowed, if running a business then you will be asked to update to a pro seller.

If you are a business and sell handmade items then take a look at Etsy.
