Morning all! Not raining yet but it might...Went to the allotment and did some hedge making. Of course while I was making it I was going over in my head what I would say to whoever decided to 'help' me and wound myself up...I'll be glad when the wood has been used and I can restart my brain. More of the same today, and then probably some sititng down. OH is on lates so plenty of time to sit around. I made pasta and fagioli last night so there's some left. The pasta will be soggy but I don't mind it. And I finally got to have some Christmas pudding and rum sauce, so there'll be more of that too. I did fancy making some pasta lorda [ like tiny ravioli with mix of cheese in them] so there's some broth ready to cook them and the ricotta is draining in the fridge. We'll see. I do the sudokus on the nyt games app, I like ot think it keeps my brain in gear but I'm probably wrong
Gers, Lionel will be pleased to see you I bet. topsy, your poor son, he's done so well though. Nanny, is it time to fire up the charabanc again? Yorkslass, there's a particular potato salad one of my Brazillian workmates used to make, it's just delicious and so moreish...And the cuts of meat are different and the sausages are actual meat too...Just fab food...dp1, hope you're improving...sounds awful...and rosy, you too...and snoozer with your ankle...actually, just get well soon pretty much everyone!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10 -
Morning everyone
Thank you all for the good wishes, unfortunately I'm still feeling much the same. It's my last day of antibiotics and steroids so I think I might have to ask for more, I also need a sick note if I'm still off work by Friday.
So yesterday was mostly spent lying on the sofa though I did stick a very easy chicken casserole in the oven, which was tasty and some left for tea today. I have actually read my Sunday Times before the end of the week too!
Also ordered some new pans from Amazon, mine are disgracefully hard up, I have no idea how many years I have had them.
Taff I like the NYT puzzles too, though not suduko, I do wordle, spelling bee and connections.
I hope everyone has a good day x12 -
Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for starting us off. Today's weather is slightly better, still dull and damp but at least the fog/mist has gone and there might even be a glimmer of sun amongst the occasional shower.
Yesterday when I was cleaning the hall, stairs and landing, I noticed the carpet on the stairs is wearing a bit thin on some of the treads so a replacement will be needed before it gets to the point of being a trip hazard. Can't be doing with any falls at my age.
As planned, the undies drawer was sorted and tidied with a couple of bits being treated to an overnight soak. They look slightly better this morning but are never going to be the pristine white of new. I have a sneaking suspicion they must have got mixed into a darks wash at some stage.
After that I had a TV break to watch the annual indoor bowling. I don't usually have the TV on during the day and I'm not really interested in sports either, but this was something DH enjoyed and he got me interested in it. I wasn't sure how I'd feel watching it on my own but it was fine and I didn't dissolve into a puddle.
Northern Powergrid arrived early doors this morning to do 'something' - not sure what but they've been in and out of the sub-station on the corner and have put out cones along the road. I get quite twitchy when they turn up, fingers crossed the power supply doesn't go off. Usual household tasks today with a trip to the shop this afternoon; I will take the soft plastics bag I forgot last week - it's hanging on the door handle so I can't forget it! Tea tonight is scampi with sides of green and pasta salad.
@Gers - Glad to hear Lionel sounded a bit more cheerful, have a safe journey for your visit.
@TA - I'm another one that doesn't 'do' birthdays but your planned girlie trip and meal out sounds just the job.
@mehefin - Poor Michael Fish, he'll never live it down! But yes, I think his 'mistake' is responsible for all the weather warnings.
@-taff - One thing I've learned about the Brazilians is that they're Feeders! It's a devil of a job to convince them you can't possibly manage another portion. And yes, their cuts of meat and sausages are different.
Have a good day everyone, healing hugs for all the poorly ones. Take care. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
