Moorside legal Portal

Has anyone else not been able to access the Moorside legal portal?  I have a letter before Claim from moorside legal,  thought I would respond through the portal but I have no access.  Every attempt tells me that my account cannot be found?  The letter is addressed to my business not an individual so I cannot fill in the surname on the login.  I have tried my surname though, and the business name and everythig else I can think of but no luck.  Because of this I responded to the letter before claim via the help@moorsidelegal email address but got an immediate auto reply telling me that the inbox is not monitored and I should use the portal.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so what was the outcome?

I doubt you have the LoC, only their short LBC that talks about payment plans? You don't respond to that one.

    Await the longer LOC.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If you really want to fire off a response if it is a proper LBC, litigationteam@moorsidelegal.co.uk can be used.  You should get an automated acknowledgement of receipt when sending to that address, ergo your response will have been served on them.

    TECHNICAL REPORT

    SMTP ACCEPTANCE TEST – MOORSIDELEGAL.CO.UK
Date of test: 21 January 2026
    Tester: Independent third party
Test method: Direct SMTP RCPT validation via MX host

    Summary
This report documents SMTP-level testing of email delivery acceptance for the domain moorsidelegal.co.uk. The purpose of the test was to determine whether specific email addresses published or used by Moorside Legal are accepted by their mail server at the point of delivery, irrespective of any subsequent automated or manual responses claiming that the mailbox is “not monitored”.

    Mail infrastructure identified
The domain moorsidelegal.co.uk uses Barracuda Networks as its inbound email security and delivery provider. The MX hosts are Barracuda servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the eu-west-2 (London, United Kingdom) region.

Testing was conducted by issuing standard SMTP commands (EHLO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO) directly to the Barracuda MX host over TCP port 25 and recording the server’s response to the RCPT TO command.

    Test 1 – help@moorsidelegal.co.uk

    Result: ACCEPTED

    Relevant SMTP exchange (abridged):

    220 mail.ess.uk.barracuda.com ESMTP
    250 Sender probe@test.invalid OK
    250 Recipient help@moorsidelegal.co.uk OK

    Interpretation:
The Barracuda MX server explicitly accepted the recipient address help@moorsidelegal.co.uk with a “250 Recipient OK” response. This confirms that email addressed to help@moorsidelegal.co.uk is accepted into Moorside Legal’s mail system at SMTP level.

    Test 2 – litigationteam@moorsidelegal.co.uk

    Result: ACCEPTED

    Relevant SMTP exchange (abridged):

    220 mail.ess.uk.barracuda.com ESMTP
    250 Sender probe@test.invalid OK
    250 Recipient litigationteam@moorsidelegal.co.uk OK

    Interpretation:
The Barracuda MX server explicitly accepted the recipient address litigationteam@moorsidelegal.co.uk with a “250 Recipient OK” response. This confirms that email addressed to litigationteam@moorsidelegal.co.uk is accepted into Moorside Legal’s mail system at SMTP level.

    Control observations
In earlier comparative testing (not reproduced in full here), other addresses at the same domain returned “550 blocked”, demonstrating that the Barracuda configuration selectively accepts or rejects recipients. This confirms that the acceptance of help@ and litigationteam@ is deliberate and not the result of a universal catch-all configuration.

    Conclusion

    1. Emails sent to help@moorsidelegal.co.uk are accepted by Moorside Legal’s mail infrastructure at SMTP level.

    2. Emails sent to litigationteam@moorsidelegal.co.uk are accepted by Moorside Legal’s mail infrastructure at SMTP level.

    3. Any assertion that these mailboxes are “not monitored” is not attributable to a delivery failure or technical limitation. It is an internal handling or policy decision made after successful receipt.

    4. From a technical standpoint, delivery is complete once the SMTP server responds “250 Recipient OK”. The sender has no control over, and no visibility into, how the recipient organisation internally routes or chooses to act upon that message.

This report is accurate to the best of the tester’s knowledge and is based on standard, widely accepted SMTP behaviour.
