Tesco Business Mobile

Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help but here goes.

My school closed last year and I was responsible for the school mobile phones including mine. Tesco business get you to do a credit check when you sign up which I did then transferred it over to the school. I thought this transferred the contract over but I'm being chased my a debt agency for £250 for the rest of the contract.  I wouldn't have used Tesco business if I thought I was liable for everything .. my naivety. We did have 7 at one point but thankfully the rest of the contracts ran out.

Tesco won't help as they say they've passed it on.. the school went insolvent so there's no records of anything. I thought the insolvency firm would write to all creditors but this one obviously is different.

Not sure where to go as there's no documentation for any of this.. all the emails and paperwork have gone.

So the contracts for the school phones are in your personal name. If so, then yes you are liable.

If you thought the contract was to be in the school's name then why did you think the credit check was against you?

Tesco Business Mobile requires you to sign up using your own personal credit details (name, address, bank details) for initial verification and liability, even if you are signing up for a business account. This is a standard security measure used to ensure accountability and to perform necessary identity and fraud checks.

All sorted now, managed to get in touch with someone to pay it.
