Home Insurance, second claim yes or not ?

I'm sorry for the trivial question but we are very confused
Nearly 3 years ago we made a claim for a water leak on the ground floor, it was a nightmare lasted two years
Now we have a leak from some drain pipes on the upstairs bathroom, is not huge but we can see the signs already on the downstairs toilet ceiling and obviusvely the situation will get worst (we are using the bathroom on the Annexe)
In normal circumstances I would go through the insurance but considering the other claim is just 3 years old and it wasn't a nice experience we are a bit concerned to live again the same bad experience (even if we are now with different insurer) , however the cost involved in strip everything out and have a new bathroom is not secondary.
What would you do ? Save and do yourself or make a claim ?

What would you do ? Save and do yourself or make a claim ?It might not require a full strip out of the bathroom. Depends where the pipes are and where the leak is. COuld you get a plumber to give a quote first? ANyone I've known who has made a claim of this nature has usually done so because they can't afford the repair bill. If you don't know how much it will be, then I'd not make a claim just yet. As you have said, you already have one claim and will have to declare the other for the next (is it 5 years usually?).As I said, it depends what sort of floor you have, and where the leak is. It might just be taking up lino, and floorboards, and putting everything back

The plumber thinks is from the shower drain which is across the corner where all the drains go down to the downstairs loo. Floor is quartz tiles.
Yes, I have to declare for 5 years. Before the other one I never made a claim for 20+ years and it was a quite unsettling experience because even if it was genuine we had to go through lot of scrutiny0 -
First of all I would check my policy and see if it includes both "Trace and Access" and "Matching Set" cover or not. If it has neither then the insurer is only responsible for the damage the escaped water has caused which sounds like its rather modest at this point.Eminster said:I'm sorry for the trivial question but we are very confused
