Hi,
Got a new contract and a new phone. Old phone works fine. Could I put this new phone on ebay and if so how does this work, my new contract and sim etc.

You do not own the new phone until you have paid for it over the contract term i.e. 24/36 months.
So IMO you cannot do this.
You can sell your old phone and use the new one?1 -
You can, but remember that you will still be paying for the phone you no longer own.Life in the slow lane1

You can but why did you get a phone that you are paying up if you had a phone that is sufficient.
There are plenty of sim only deals.

Any buyer of a new phone from a private seller will want to see your proof of ownership (at least they should). Can't imagine too many will be happy with a phone that's on a finance deal with you.
You stop paying the monthlies, the phone gets bricked by the network.1 -

Years ago networks would give you a "free" phone when you signed up for so many minutes per month. These days phones cost so much more to make and consumer protection has been tightened on rollover contracts so the phone is unlikely to be free. It's unlikely that anyone will be willing to pay more than it's costing you and they're taking a risk about it being reported stolen and blocked, even if you are prepared to pay off the contract cost.johnboy13 said:Hi,

There is nothing to stop you using the supplied sim in a different phone and using a different sim in this phone, but selling it is fraught with problems.0 -
So, im currently paying for my sim only, £25 a month. That's with 20GB a month, free calls and text. Im out of contract now, and I can get a sim only deal for for £22 with 50GB. However, I can get a new phone, 30GB, free calls etc for £30.50 per month. The phone is going for around £500 on Ebay.0

If you got yourself a SIM only deal with GiffGaff for example you could get the same deal for £10 pcm, thereby saving £360 over a 24 month contract and there's no risk with potential scammers on Ebay. How many GBs do you use per month?Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Around 20GB, as GiffGaff got good coverage?0

I get 60GB for £10 a month with Smarty. They use the Three/Vodafone network.0
