Do you support an easier/clearer option to request tv licence reminders via post
As we get older, ie over 60, close to official retirement, I'm worried that we'd forget, especially
as my OH does not do the financial side of our marriage, it's a bit like old school, i.e., tasks were
on the whole shared and crossed paths as required. (I've always dealt with the bills etc, it is what it is)
I'm aware that postal reminders can get lost in the post, but it is an extra tier of being reminded.
We don't want to do an automatic DD/etc.
In our view, by limiting reminders to online methods only (well, the online
talks about "changing the option to postal," but I've looked for hours), the system excludes many people, particularly older customers and those who prefer traditional communication.
I believe there should be a clear and accessible option to request TV Licence reminders by post, ensuring the service is fair and inclusive for everyone. I would appreciate this issue being reviewed and a postal reminder option being made more clear but from what I've seen, the option is not accessible online as it claims

Is there a particular reason why you don't want to do DD, as that would be the most obvious answer to your issue.6

Get a calendar, one of those with a month to a page that you hang up in the kitchen.
Write on there when the TV licence is due, also useful as reminder for any other future events.3 -
Totally echo this. Paid monthly as well, no annual amount to find.Cornucopia said:Is there a particular reason why you don't want to do DD, as that would be the most obvious answer to your issue.Life in the slow lane2 -
I think it's:- update your details>make changes to your license>change how you'd like to receive your tv license and select paper tv license by post
Update reminders should arrive by the same method.3 -

If there was an option there, they are not practicing that, as this has been happening for several
years at least.
Re texts, sorry, not interested as the phone number needs to be updated if we change it, and we both do
at times.
I've had another look on the tv licence site, bangs on about "options," but I
can's see anyhting about getting paper reminders.0 -
Many thanks. It's something we will investigate - but it needs to be big, so we can write dates/etc - we will considerflaneurs_lobster said:Get a calendar, one of those with a month to a page that you hang up in the kitchen.

You can post a letter to them 😄 and ask.
I still get postal reminders (I think) and I ask for a paper licence after renewal online.

It's back up since they sent some nasty men to my door insisting I hadn't paid when all that had happened was I'd paid from a different post office back in the day. But it was a horrible experience alone late at night. They both blocked the doorway being insistent.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

As mentioned above is there a reason why you don't pay by monthly direct debit in which case you don't need a licence - paper or otherwise - as it is just continually active2

When my dad started to struggle, we sorted a lot of financial things out for him including the TVL. Going monthly DD was the easiest option for him. He used to spend most of New Years Day copying all the reminders off last years calendar onto the new calendar for that day, and there were very few days without some friend or family having a birthday, anniversary or some other occasion, alongside everything else. If you have a mobile phone, why not just set reminders up on there. Dead easy to do - I have them set up to remind me which bin needs putting out the next day, when I need to get new quotes for car and house insurance, any birthdays I need to remember in advance etc.1
