Morning everyone and thanks for starting us off Gers (enjoy your 'lie in').
The weather is looking very wet today - I was hoping to go for my daily walk, but it looks like it will have to wait until tomorrow

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope you're warm and cosy in bed.
It's dry at the moment, may fling all the windows open to get some fresh air in whilst I'm in the shower. Yesterday's washing is just airing off and I can get it put away.
Bathrooms to clean and a dust and hoover round this morning. May go for another swim, quite enjoyed it yesterday but I'm a bit achy this morning!
All my jobs got done yesterday, seemed to have lots of places to go all in different directions. Overdue library book returned, shopping done and dug up some lovely potatoes from the allotment (had some with my dinner). There are still some more to dig up so will do that next week.
Glad to hear everything is put into place for Lionel Gers and that he has been moved somewhere more suitable. Shame about your bank cards.
Good you had a chat with your new chap's Mum Ruby and pleased to hear that Matt and his Mum are more settled.
Hope the poorlies are feeling better today.
Must get moving, don't seem to have done anything yet this morning apart from emptying the dishwasher.
Take care and have a peaceful Sunday. XX15 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
We had a good time at the Wassail - DH enjoyed a mulled cider and I made a hanging decoration for the apple tree using pipe cleaners and strips of cloth/ribbon. Think the crafts were just for the children but hey ho! Also had an interesting discussion with the melodeon player which I think @WickedLady4 plays? We then went back to our old town, an hours’ drive away to have drinks with friends. I drove us home and it was quite foggy so we didn’t get in until 00:40! I’m only up now because I have a yoga class and need to rehydrate first - would much rather still be in bed!We are meeting BIL and two nieces at some point today, probably for a walk. No firm plans where yet.Glad you spoke to O’s mum @ Redruby1231 it does sound like she wants a bit of company too.Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 1/26 Currently reading The Trial by Rob Rinder16 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. What a miserable morning we have here with thick fog shrouding us and then heavy rain to follow.
The last of the maple glazed gammon slices out defrosting for lunch. Cauliflower cheese is calling to go with it. I'll make enough for tomorrow as well but will probably have it topped with crispy bacon bits .Shopping got done yesterday and once again nothing bought to go in the freezer. Living from it for 3 weeks hasn't made much impression on any space in it so far!
My comment yesterday about being in a soup rut set me off on a trip down memory lane! I got thinking back to soups enjoyed over the years and remembered Minted Brown Lentil soup. Many years back we were in Turkey (before all-inclusives and restaurants with menus spoilt it for us) and we were in a little place by the river in Manavgat. No menus of course, just what they had in and that soup was one of them. It was delicious and we enjoyed it a few times. Before coming home I asked as best I could for the recipe. There wasn't one of course, just a handful of this, that and the other all thrown in the pan like his grandma did before him.. I jotted all the ingredients down, without any weights, and once home I was on a mission to perfect the soup myself. It was never quite the same but we enjoyed my numerous offerings anyway!
Sorry I got waffling there! Have a lovely day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad, lonely and lurgy sufferers. RUBY how nice of Matt's mum to keep you posted like that. It made me wonder if you ever hear anything on how Rob is doing now? He must miss you. Take care all, stay safe x

Good morning
Raining and still dark outside, looks set in for the day.
Yesterday I decided to go out for a while. We didn't need any shopping, I just wanted some time out browsing the shops. At a roundabout another car came up the outside of me and hit my wing mirror. I pulled into the service station off the roundabout to see if there was any damage, not expecting the other car to stop. Luckily there was no damage to my car, and the other driver, a young lady also pulled into the service station, full of apologies. No damage to either car so we shook hands and went on our way. It was a shock though.
Homemade turkey and ham pie for dinner today, probably with roasted veg.
Have a good day all, take care.

Good morning everyone
It's wet and miserable here this morning.
I didn't post yesterday as I was out for most of the time and little to report.
TA your reflections on soup remind me of the estate where I grew up where there was a road with families called Heinz, Bachelor, Cross, Blackwell and Campbell how's that for soup alley!
I have a wash to put on this morning followed by cleaning and floor mopping. I have yet to decide on my main meal today but I think it will involve chicken.
Thinking of the sad, lonely or poorlies.
Take care x

Moring all from a rainy Mehefinland
had another session battling brambles yesterday - I 'think' I may be winning but they are tenacious little sods. Some of them are like the vines on the first Jumanji film, spreading along the ground at prodigeous growth rates.
Got to call in on a dog this afternoon as owner is taking Dad for an afternoon tea ( he doesn't know all his extended family are also going to be there).
off to a beach litterpick at Ogmore by Sea shortly - it seems to be where lots of the Victorian shoes have been washing up ,so may even see some of those. Just hope it stops raining for a bit whilst there.
Not much else happening ,so ,hugs and spoons as always

Well, the morning has brightened since my first post. There are hints of some blue behind the thick white clouds.Yesterday morning I decided to do some shopping despite the rain so zoomed up to the big town, filled my bags and was done. On the way back I dropped into to see my friend, I had phoned first, to give her a pair of trousers which I'd bought last month but were unsuitable. Trousers were lovely fine wool but there was so much material between were the legs join and the waist - I could fold it over and it was still too big. My friend was thrilled as she has more stomach than me so they covered her well.
Just a weird construction for expensive trousers. Hey, ho - they weren't wasted.I spent a lot of the rest of the day doing admin stuff for Lionel, two big things needed to be dealt with so they are done and dusted. No more difficulties ahead I hope.@Iris - I used to enjoy walking in the rain, but no more!@Camelot - freshly dug up potatoes are such a treat, all that labour pays rewards.@Coxy - children's crafts are often so much more interesting, your apple tree will look glorious with it.@DP1 - you're having a rotten time of it, hope that you feel better for the week off.@Ruby - how lovely of Matt's mum to keep in touch and let you know how he is.@TA - minted lentil soup sounds as it could be an interesting taste. Are brown lentils fundamentally different from green or red ones?@Remmie - what a shocker indeed. Lucky to have no damage and a concerned other driver.@Redcross - what an intriguing set of neighbours.@WL - are you OK?There's loads of us with poorly bits and pieces or poorly friends / family - I wish you all well. I'm off to make more tomato soup. Hugs to all.13
