US tariffs on UK impact

Coming back to this thread this morning, I'm a bit confused about the relevance of US markets anyway. It seems the OP is planning to trade his FTSE100 tracker. If the thought was that Americans might be holding UK stocks and would be moved to sell them, then they can get up early and do that when UK markets open.0

And what will you do if prices go up after you sell? Will you buy back quickly and lock in your loss or will you wait and see if they drop again? And if they keep going up and up, how long will you wait before you buy back and lock in and even bigger loss? (Presumably you do have a plan for this scenario?)Uriziel said:I am not planning on selling and then staying out for a long period. As long I am buying back in at a lower price than I sold I should be making back the money if I lost any at all.0 -
It will be a blip. Maybe a good buying opportunity.0

Stock markets are ripe for a correction and the new tariffs just might be the needed excuse...and that will be a good thing. But tariffs are silly and won't be good for anyone in the long run. I won't be doing any trading, but it will make my Stilton cheese more expensive in the USAnd so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.2

Barely a big move today, probably because the markets feel they are TACO-wise.
It will also make your McVitie's digestives more expensive. You do eat it with a digestive, don't you?Bostonerimus1 said:But tariffs are silly and won't be good for anyone in the long run. I won't be doing any trading, but it will make my Stilton cheese more expensive in the US4 -

S&P futures down over 1%, and US markets are closed today. Real impact will be seen tomorrow I guess0

There's been some selective falls in purveyors of luxury goods that could be susceptible to a trade war, but overall a bit of a "meh" reaction from UK/European markets.Keen for an update from the OP on the execution of their strategy.2
