To directly quote ..If they say it was a 'data collector' reading they are talking about a meter reader visit, why it was not processed at the time it was collected I do not know, but the person who collected it would not have been accessing old meter readings, just the current index readings.This may help:

I think you will find that TMA are one of the bodies licenced by Elexon to validate the meter readings for switching as well as providing meter reading services to Octopus and others....0

Octopus confirmed that the 7th April 2025 reading that caused them to rebill everything is
(1) the index reading shown in my account
(2) not used and doesn't affect billing
(3) incorrect in any case
(4) flagged as invalid on their system.0 -
Octopus seem to be on a roll, as well as reversing the unwanted January part month billing line, they've also gone back to their estimate for 1st April 2025, crediting £2.04 and billing 68p instead.
I seem to have a preferential line of communication into Octopus just, my emails get directed to someone who understands and is willing and able to act. This seems to be a hang over from my beef on Facebook that resulted in someone fixing the meter the same morning. I don't know h9w long this will last.0
