ONEPLUS TRADE-IN EXPERIENCE INVOLVING MONDO AFFARI AND FEDEX

Posting this to share my experience in case it helps others.

I bought a new OnePlus 15 and used OnePlus’ official trade-in programme to return my 10-month-old OnePlus 13 (512GB), in excellent condition and worth roughly £900. The return was done using the prepaid FedEx label provided by OnePlus, with Mondo Affari as the trade-in partner.

I’ve been a OnePlus customer for years and also own a OnePlus tablet and watch, so I followed the process exactly as instructed.

FedEx later confirmed the trade-in parcel was lost while in transit. What followed was weeks of back-and-forth where responsibility was passed around:

• OnePlus said it was Mondo Affari’s issue
• Mondo Affari said it was FedEx’s issue
• FedEx confirmed the loss but said compensation was limited to £4 because no extra insurance was applied to the label
• Mondo Affari then said they were not responsible because FedEx lost it

The end result is that the phone is gone, I’ve had no reimbursement, and the only compensation offered is £4 for a £900 device.

I’m posting this purely as a factual account of my experience. If you are considering using trade-in schemes that involve third-party partners and prepaid labels, it may be worth checking how loss, insurance, and liability are handled before sending high-value devices.

Good points. I've sweated on a £600 Samsung trade-in being sent with the supplied Royal Mail pre-paid mail-in label which will only compensate up to £100 if lost (or presumably wrecked).

TBF, they do at least point this limit out in the return details.
