Samsung refusing liability for faulty update

  • Where I've said extended warranty I actually was just using the terminology Samsung have been using for what I would call a have period - the most clear answer I got from one of them was that they have the power to OK some claims up to 6 months after the warranty expires, or up to 12 months with supervisor approval.

    I did double check the Amazon listing, order details and my emails in case there were any steps to sign up to the warranty, but nothing. They've just come back now and agreed it anyway, though they did try to say that warranties apply from date of manufacture, not purchase, which is total BS.

    Sadly not.
    As warranty is something that the manufacture offers over & above your consumer rights, they can impose their own terms.

    Good to hear if they're agreeing to sort it. However you're making some incorrect assumptions along the way so even if just for anyone else that reads this.. 
    * grace period sounds like its at their discretion so not something you can demand. 
    * warranties are a contractual term so those terms can state whatever as long as its stated at the point of purchase. It could state starting from manufacture, or starting from the coronation of our next king, or whatever.

    A business isn't going to dismiss a complaint just because it's been written using AI.  Businesses will understand that not everybody is comfortable writing a formal letter and people might want help with that.  This isn't a love letter where the personal touch is important.

    The risk of using AI is that it frequently gets things wrong and will quote imaginary pieces of legislation - meaning your complaint might be based on fictitious law.

    No - what was said was that if a letter was obviously written by AI then it would just be throw in the bin and ignored *because it was written by AI* - which is not true.   The people running complaints departments of companies don't care if you use AI to write a letter.  They're not going to go "Oh, this customer has a legitimate complaint, but they've obviously used AI to write their letter so I'm going to bin it" - that would be an absurd thing to do.

    If you base your complaint on fictitious legislation, *then* it may be ignored.  But this equally true regardless of who wrote the letter - a human or AI.
