I have a select 123 account. Is there such a thing as a select everyday account if I wished to downgrade. I'm not sure what select actually gives us these days0

MY 123 Lite was downgraded to an Everyday account, it's still Select. The only benefit I can think of is the phone line is picked up quicker though I haven't used it for a couple of years0

I used the Select phone line yesterday. The response was almost immediate. The bot said that it recognised my number (which can be spoofed of course) and I passed the voice ID. I hit the number for making a payment, which was probably a mistake. The bot wanted to make a payment from the few quid that I had in my account, but I wanted to enquire about the best way of making future large payments. The bot soon gave up and I was quickly put through to a human. She had a clear voice, which was good. Her advice about Faster Payments was good. She did not seem to know anything about Open Banking. I expect that I can make up to 4 x £25K per day, as for online Faster Payments. Others have reported that in the past. It would have been good to have that confirmed though.ColdIron said:MY 123 Lite was downgraded to an Everyday account, it's still Select. In my recent experience that benefit has disappeared. I phoned the Select number a few months ago and got the usual computerised nudges to do things online before eventually being allowed to speak to a human. Said human then tried to send a few hundred thousand of mine to the wrong, thankfully non-existent, account. I don't think "Select" means anything anymore.ColdIron said:MY 123 Lite was downgraded to an Everyday account, it's still Select. I did not get any computerised nudges yesterday. I expect that mistakes were made in the past too. If you need to do a CHAPS payment, it might be safer to go into a branch. That is what I did 15 years ago when there was no choice. I took a print out showing the payee details. The lady said that she had spoken to the payee organisation. I do not remember being greeted with "Thank you for calling Santander Select" yesterday. Perhaps I was talking to Santander Plebs.EssexExile said:
