I’ve used eBay in the past, find a car you’re interested in and visit the seller.
Do a deal there and then.
    Stops all the bidding issues.
    Got 4 cars that way.
One seller would not do that, I was out bid by 2 other buyers in the auction.
A few days later the seller go in touch and offered the car at my last bid.
We did a deal but for £100 less.

Nothing has changed except inflation/Covid effect.

£1.5 - £2k has always been risky territory though, which is why they only lasted you 3 years.

£3.5k was the sweet spot, but now it's £4k I'm afraid.

    In 2019 I bought a decent 04 car for £3500.
Last week I bought decent 62 car for £4000.

    Both private sellers. Both 75k.
