Morning everyone it’s another cold dark day I’m waiting for someone coming to give me a new smart meter he never turned up last time and I got 40 pounds credit I hope he forgets to come today . Corrieflash i absolutely loved my Norwegian cruise but I suffered terribly with motion sickness I couldn’t stand up and the sea was calm it’s just me but I agree it’s absolutely beautiful we are going to skolden and ulvik this time it was Bergen and veek I would love to go back to Bergen but we will see how I manage this time .Gers how sad about Lionel but I’m sure he will have been pleased to see you .TA it definitely does you good to get out of the house it drives me batty if I don’t get out at some point in the day if only for a walk with the dog . I could do with putting a load of washing in but don’t want it hanging around when he comes about the meter there’s nothing urgent I will wait until he goes and put it on the airer. Fish and veg for me tonight fish and chips for hubby I will get on with cleaning the kitchen and bit tidying up but otherwise the same old roll on spring. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning all. Damp today and I forgot to put the bins out last night but they haven't been yet so I've just put them out now, not that there's much to go. The food waste is generally chucked on the compost heap but this time I had a bag of peanuts in their shells that tasted off, and I didn't want to put them in the compost here or at the allotment in case of rats [ not really here but definitely there] Went to the allotment yesterday and had to unbuild 3 of the dead hedges people had kindly decided to build for me, all wrong , so I had to take them apart again There's a point where, yes please, I'll have some prunings, please leave them at the top of the plot by the shed [ easiest access point] turns into, no, not your entire tree thanks. and don't be 'helpful' I was really livid. There was a lot of shouting f.f.s and throwing stuff. I might go again today , depends on how rainy it is. Ankle is a bit dodgy after a couple of days of gardening though so we'll see.Gers, poor Lionel, what rubbish news. Hopefully you can all come up with a plan that he's happy with.well done again for prodding, otherwise...redcross, you go girl/woman/person!! Izzy, well done for overcoming fears again, you did make me laugh, "I can't even tell myself" !
Have you tried ginger tablets/capsules? Supposed to be good for stomachs...dp1, hope you managed to convince your mumt o accept some help. Take care all...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Good morning
A dry start here, and not as chilly as recently.
Don't know what today's plans are, DH is walking BD at the moment so will confer when he gets in. He was saying about a trip to a shop he wants to go to, either today or tomorrow. If so I will pop into a supermarket to get the bread I didn't get earlier this week. I remembered we had a small loaf in the freezer.
Gers, so sorry to read about Lionel, but well done to you for prodding him.
Redcross, well done to you too, enjoy.
Izzy, can you get any prescription meds to help with the sickness?
Have a good day all, take care.12 -
Morning all from a wet Mehefinland
had another canine visit from the GSD yesterday afternoon - she is settling well, but a bit clingy to ;'mum' atm. Hardly a surprise with what she has been through.
Had half an hour cutting back brambles in the field, and about another similar time staunching all the cuts - the beggars were fighting back
Slow but steady progress. Still waiting to hear when the contractor is coming todo the fencing, and then the tree planting can commence.
Went to a GC to look for a narrow spade ( tree planting for the use of) but was quite disappointed with the lack of stuff in the tool section. Like all GC's these days it seems you can get a vast cornucopia of 'stuff' which has no relation to gardening. Smelly candles don't last well in the rain lol. Anyway found a border spade which will do the job but it was a stainless steel jobby and cost a fortune. Luckily I had a birthday voucher which covered the cost plus a bit more.
Got to go to the library to cast my vote for a new community councilor later - think I will wait until the rain eases though.
Take care all.Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek
Edit -was a spade not a fork. Lack of sleep gone to my head. And I went to sing with another choir last night which was very different to my usual one. It's not as if I haven't got any time to spare lol13 -
Morning allIt's pouring with rain here and expected to be in for the day tooWould have been on here earlier but had the tv on while dusting and got drawn in to watching the spacecraft land and be picked up in the ocean etc. All clever stuffSorry to hear about Lionel @Gers I'm sure he'll be grateful for your support@Redcross go for it and have a great time@Redruby do you think that his mum enjoys your company and that's why she wants you to get there earlier than really needed?Right, off to do some word games on here to keep my brain from seizing up!Have a good day all x12

Morning all, we have heavy rain here today, no two days seem to be the same this week. I had another night when sleep evaded me for hours so it maybe a nana nap later.
Yesterday I collected Mr Fix It's meds then I called in Dad's for coffee, he was in a mess with some paperwork which we sorted then I washed up, cleaned his sink area and delved into his fridge wearing full hazmat gear ! The milk was off when I tried to make coffee and something else was definitely smelling in that fridge. Everything came out and half of it was thrown out, then the fridge was cleaned. Don't know exactly what some items were because they were so green and mouldy 🤢
I have stripped the bed this morning and put the bedding on a wash. I'll remake the bed later and I'll dust and hoover around upstairs.
Gers I hope Lionel is comfortable and I'm sure he and his family value your support.
Hugs to anyone in need.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Morning all, thanks @ Gers for the thread start. I'm so sorry to hear of Lionel's diagnosis; even if he suspected what was wrong beforehand, it's still a difficult thing to process so it's good he has support from you and his niece.
It's a lovely sunny start to the day here although there may have been a light overnight frost that has gone now, apart from a few spots where the sun hasn't reached yet. It's forecast to get cloudier by early afternoon followed by light rain this evening.
Unlike @Izzy, my smart meter replacement appointment yesterday was kept so no £40 credit for me.
The electric meter installed just before Xmas hasn't made any difference as to how I use appliances (not that I expected it to) but this gas one may be a different kettle of fish! We'll see.
Today I'm definitely going to the shop; there's still not much on the shopping list but I'm getting desperate a change of scenery! There's a bag of soft plastics for the SM recycling bin and a couple of books to return at the same time. No idea what's for dinner tonight but I'm sure a freezer rummage will produce something.
@Ruby - Fingers crossed your chat with O's mum ends well.
@Redcross - A trip to the Caribbean sounds so exciting, good for you on taking the plunge.
@-taff - Shame your allotment visit yesterday turned into a 'demolish it all' day - I hope the shouting and throwing eased your frustration somewhat!
Have as good a day as you can, hugs for anyone in need. Take care. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Hello everyone, sorry not been up to posting, not even reading some days with this wretched cough virus that DH and I have had. Nearly 3 weeks now, grrr. No energy, takes me all my time to get poor LDog out for a walk some days, though I do generally feel better for getting outside. He doesn't seem to mind the slower pace- more sniffing time!I'll wish you all well, sorry to hear about Lionel Gers.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. ROSY you sound just like my DF. She is now into the 4th week of the same virus. Just as she thinks the cough is easing it comes back. It has absolutely drained her. Her DH got it first and kindly passed it on! But he hasn't been quite as bad as her. Hope you are soon on the mend x
