Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Still cold and miserable with that horrid drizzle that gets you very wet!
Coal delivery this morning so I'll go out and open the gate or the delivery driver leaves it on the drive for me to carry to the bunker! The heating wouldn't come on yesterday, I think it was the boiler pressure so I've topped it up and will hope for the best.
Nothing much happening here, it's still January - the longest month ever. I did some shopping for school last night and will have to ask for help bringing it all from the car, 20 bottles of a certain scottish soft drink makes for a very heavy bag!
Hope everyone is well and you have a good day. Take care. XX14 -
Morning @Gers thanks for starting us off. Hope you were able to visit Lionel yesterday. How is he doing?
We had a lovely meal at our local pub last night and the adult kids joined us for a drink after. DD has just left for work and we heard the school fire alarm going off, so DH has gone over to sort it out. He is not a happy bunny!I have some errands to run in town today and I’m going to sort that pesky corner cupboard out. DH is sanding down a window frame. Glamour-central here 🤣 Dinner is burger in a bowl.Hugs to all our poorlies or those feeling the January blues. Have a good day all.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 1/26 Currently reading The Trial by Rob Rinder15 -
Morning all
Sounds dry here but rain due later and for the rest of the day, I am off to see O today, I need to speak to his mum today - yesterday went really well again but she wants me to start at 8 which is fine but when I get there he is already on the loo and it takes him at least an hour sometimes one and a half hours to do his thing so I just sit there with a tea and her and I chat which is fine but they are paying me for that I shall ask if she wants me at 9 instead which makes more sense to me.
Shopping being delivered tonight and a quick dinner of pizza and salad once it arrives. Little dog has been off her food for the last few days I will ring the vet later if there is no change, I gave her some slices of roast beef from Sunday last night and she ate them all, so I have ordered her some chicken and will cook that and see if that tempts her.
Flooring delivery finally came yesterday so we are ready to start the work, but will have to wait for OH to have a couple of days off now, but shouldn’t be too much longer.
Thinking of Lionel and Gers xx
Have good days all and take care xx15 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you found Lionel as well as he could be all considered. I'll bet he was pleased to see you.
A fine morning in store for us, to be followed at lunchtime by drizzly mizzly rain and a light wind. Better than snow or gales I suppose.. Yesterday it actually stayed fine all day for our bus trip out but it was a bit nippy. Quite a few hardy stallholders had set up but didn't look to be doing much trade. We spent more time over our lunch and vino than wandering round but we did have a lot to catch up on! The only other spending was some in-wash dw cleaning tabs and a pack of Werthers. Last of the big spenders or wot!
Back to a day of same old same old today. I'll probably do the kitchen and bathroom and then wash the towels and bathmats. Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely and everyone suffering with the January Blues. Chin up, it's only 2 weeks now until February! Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Back.I stayed with Lionel for a few hours yesterday. He's certainly lost a huge amount of weight since I saw him for lunch in mid-October. Whilst I was there some more news came from a consultant. He's definitely got lung cancer, the other dodgy growths need to be explored, maybe by biopsy. He took all very well though will no doubt have wobbles later once he's processed it all. We spent a while making domestic plans. Luckily his niece and I hold POA so we'll get working on getting it lodged with his financial organisations.I'm in a very different hotel, a huge castle in the middle of the south side of Glasgow. I suspect it's not been a proper castle (like my big house) but a Victorian confection. Very tasty food and comfy bed. I'm off for my CT scan at 11a.m. After it I'll drop in to the Royal to see Lionel again before heading home. No food or drink allowed after 7.00a.m. so I had the sandwich I brought with me. 😀
I hope that all are well and that colds, coughs and sniffles soon go away. Hugs all round.15 -
Good morning, it's a damp start here.
Sorry to read that the news about Lionel is not good Gers.
Ruby, it would be better if you started at 9 wouldn't it, as you say, it makes more sense.
TA, glad you got your day out and it stayed fine, I think a change of scene brightens you up, it does me anyway.
Yesterday was ok, just the usual jobs, today will be the same I think.
Thinking of Lionel, and anyone else who is poorly or down in the dumps.
Take care folks.15 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers, sorry to hear about Lionel.
@Ruby definitely makes more sense to start at 9
Should be going on the walk this morning but decided to give it a miss again, it's so cold. We often stand around waiting for people to arrive.
Take care
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -
Good morning everyone
Thanks for the start Gers, so sorry to hear about Lionel I am sure your support will be invaluable.
It's quite bright and fine this morning, hope it stays this way.
I have made quite a bit decision, a very close relative is getting married in the Caribbean early next year and I have decided to go. So because of single supplements etc. I am on a saving mission for this year but the end result will be worth it. It will be my first venture abroad for 10 years and first time on my own for a lot longer. I am fluctuating between excitement and worry but hopefully I will enjoy.
So today brings the excitement of cleaning and ironing and other little jobs that need doing.
Thoughts are with the sad, lonely and poorlies as always.
Take care x13 -
