Solicitor retired, can't remember details - will

Hi all
I made a will a.few years ago, have lost the solicitors details and think they have retired.
They emailed me a copy but I have lost it!
Is there any way of finding out who might have a copy (know roughly they traded from) as I need to update it.TIA

Check with the SRA .
but depending on the timescales and the changes you want to make it might be easier just to do a new will.

 My solicitor was also arrested and struck off. I received my will in the post when the sra took over and passed the clients to another firm.

Just make a new will. It'll cost little more than amending an old one and is safer.

It'll matter what happened to the firm rather than the solicitor themselves generally. The SRA deals with cases where law firms close down, go bust etc. 

Its not that uncommon an event unfortunately and so if its been many years you may find its been bounced around a few times because the law firm that was given it originally themselves may have gone bust so it moves on again. You would need to remember the name of the solicitor or firm though as the SRA doesnt index all the papers it handed over as its always just a 1-2-1 handover
