Why do you need to declare it?AliB1860 said:Hi, my car has been declared a write off - a small dent in the bumper & wing - crazy - but when I’m on insurance comparison sites NONE of them give me the option to declare this?!!!! What do I do???
Presumably the bit of the story thats missing is that it was a cat N total loss so you decided to keep the car and now are trying to insure it again. Insurers could check MIAFTR themselves if they wanted to know if a car had been written off or not in the past but in practice most dont. Its not really a relevant point, the write off will devalue the car slightly but other factors like mileage will make a bigger differences in most cases which they also dont ask for.
They do ask you for the value of the car and so in principle you reflect it there, in practice the companies I did pricing work for on Motor didnt use that value in the pricing but for driving other things (eg if they would offer TPO/TPFT cover) but maybe some others do.2 -
It may be that when you get to the insurers website, it may allow you to put in more details.0
