Good morning
Not the best start to the day, got up to find the fridge isn't working and food in there isn't cold. DH has googled and is going to follow some instructions, but if all fails then it's a new one. Will shoehorn what I can into the freezer (which thankfully is working).
Anyway it's raining so not much else to do. Beef stew and dumplings tonight.
Gers, hope Lionel gets a bed soon.
Have a good day all, take care.10 -
Morning all. It's been raiing since I got up which does not bode well for gardening. I did quie a lot yesterday so not too bad, also did four loads of washing, so some of that is still hanging about the place. Didn't sleep brilliantly either but I think it's the duvet, it's just too hot, which is probably why I put it away in the first place
I might have a day off jobs today and just read and knit. I always feel like I should be doing something otherwise I'm wasting time, instead of spedning the odd day just doing nothing but pleasing myself. OH doesn't have that problem, as his XBox will attest
Gers, seems to be a running theme with A&E departments these days, thanks to years of insufficient funding and management. Well done the workers though! Hopefully he's out soon to enjoy his new shower...well done you and all for rallying.. Nanny, hope Mr Fixit is bruise free now and you are better too. Redcross, its not you, it's the plants, they just want to die...:) Actually, after years of growing my own veg and a foray lately into flowers very successfully, I can say, it's taken me 25 years to keep a houseplant that isn't a spider plant alive...I think it's because they know I've given up and don't care anymore so they're making more of an effort...mehefin, oo, a GSD...I had one once, she was such a b*2ch, I loved her...Right, take care all, wear something waterpoof!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10 -
Hello all, looks like we all have the same weather. Another one who slept badly, too much going on in my mind !
Yesterday was dry so we high tailed it to a GC where they had the last of the sale items on show. I didn't want, nor need anything so they stayed on the shelves. We did however treat ourselves to a coffee in the cafe where I got a free coffee courtesy of their coffee club, so I only paid for one 😊. Unfortunately we were unable to view the Sugar Loaf as it was shrouded with cloud, maybe they should rename the cafe "the Cloud" instead of the "Sugar Loaf" on such days. Feeling full of vim and vigour I did my ironing in the afternoon, go me, it's some feat as I hate that job.
Today I have a load in the wm and I'm expecting a sm delivery this morning, only 2 items OOS and nothing major. By the time I sort it out and put it away, it'll be feet up time ! We'll be watching more of The Five by Harlan Coben.
Gers poor Lionel, hope he gets a bed soon.
taff thank you for asking about us, Mr Fix It's bruise can still be seen and he tells everyone that I clocked him 😂. I'm still struggling with pain some days but I'm soldiering on. Have a day to yourself today, put your feet up and knit or cogitate, that's and order !.
nan xx

|Morning everyone
It's raining here too. I've been making some leek and potato soup this morning, I'll blend it after work and have some for my tea.
Sadly my youngest cat was hit by a car yesterday, someone picked her up and took her to the vet, which was kind.
She was further than home than I thought she went, she must have been chasing a rabbit or something. This is the cat that was originally little ones and came to live with me while she was so ill in hospital, we had a long phone conversation after DD told her. DD said she was very cross with me at first because if I hadn't let her outside she wouldn't have died - fair point really- then was cross with DD for being daft enough to give me her cat when she knew I'd let her outside!. My bigger cat mooched around last night looking for her.
I've just looked at the time and realised I haven't made my lunchtime sandwiches, still to get dressed too, so I'd better move.
Hope Lionel is in a bed on a ward by now Gers.
Hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Just popping back on to say I'm sorry to hear about your cat dp1, hugs to you and little one x9

Morning all, thanks @Gers for today's thread start. Poor Lionel, I hope he's on a ward now, not still somewhere in a corridor, and that you have a less fraught day.
The weather here was mild but dull yesterday, apart from a couple of spells when the sun appeared for a few minutes. Today looks like being the same, the only difference being today will be wetter.
I too had a fitful night of sleep so am feeling a bit washed out. Looks like we're all in the same boat with the weather and sleep!
Yesterday I picked out the first of the Try/Keep? recipes, a batch of Weetabix brownies. Quick and easy to make, and not too expensive (if you ignore the butter content). Because it uses the melting method, they need to soften in the cake tin for 2-3 days before eating so I'll have to be patient before tasting and deciding.
Some progress made on the Use Up front by substituting four (very) small bars of chopped up YS white chocolate in place of conventional chocolate drops that I didn't have.
I've already done all the usual day to day stuff and was thinking about doing last week's postponed shopping trip this afternoon just to get out and about for a bit but it's not urgent if it doesn't happen and, so far, I'm not feeling the urge. One thing I must do though is to empty the meter cupboard (again) ready for tomorrow's appointment to change over the gas meter. In fairness, there's not too much to come out but having stuff all over the place is a bit of a bind. Tonight's dinner will be an easy one - re-heated beef casserole, a couple of dumplings might be added.
@snoozer - Make sure you rest your ankle so you'll be ready for Bristol.
@Redcross - You might find your amaryllis has more flowers this time round. I had one that did really well but had to give it away when it got far too big.
@remmie - Fingers crossed your DH can fix the fridge.
@-taff - My current crop of houseplants numbers just two. My Xmas cactus isn't dead but all the buds have dropped off (I don't think it's happy where it is) but my orchid is doing well. So far.
@nanny - I wish my vim and vigour wouldn't keep going AWOL! Sorry to hear you're still in pain sometimes and that Mr Fix It's bruise hasn't gone yet.
@dp1 - Sorry to hear about your cat, I hope LO won't be cross with you for too long.
Right, time for some lunch so I'll leave you all with wishes for a good day. Hugs for the poorly ones, take care and stay safe. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
DP1 sorry about the cat I love cats and used to have five and a couple of G S dogs but I’m to heartbroken when they have gone we have a Syrian lady that has moved into our town she brought her kitten in to show me the other day beautiful little white one snowy she nearly never got it back9

Dp1 I'm sorry too about your little cat. I'm another cat lover and understand how sad you will be feeling.
We are nearly all in the insomniac club by the sound of it. Who is hogging the Sandman?! Lots of nana naps on the agenda for this afternoon.
Lunch with DF was off as she is still coughing and spluttering almost 4 weeks on from the onset of the lurgy. She thinks she may need another course of abs and will try to see, or speak to, the doc again.
