Online communication with HMRC

I'm not sure if this is the right place. If not, perhaps someone can redirect me.
I completed my Self-Assessment tax return on 3 January and paid the tax on 7 January.
Today I received a letter from them dated 6 January, ie before the payment, acknowledging the return but containing details which I want to clarify.
My question is: how do I contact HMRC online from my personal account?
When I completed my return there was a box where I could add comments but I can find no way to get back to that page.
I do not have a mobile so cannot use their app.
There is reference to an online form which I cannot locate.
Can someone please point me to the correct location on HMRC's website?
Many thanks.

Do you have a tablet? The app will run on one of those as well.

    Thanks for the replies, but
1 Email is too risky because I want to discuss my tax return so it has to be from within my personal account.
    2 I do not have a tablet.

I guess you'll just have to pick up the old dog and bone in that case.

    EDIT

One other option to get back to the comments box might be to amend the submitted form.

You'll need to log in to you account and see if that is an option now that you have also paid the tax.

If you phone them best to do it at 08.00 sharp when the lines open. Normally a shorter wait time.

Nobody is likely to ever look at the comments box.

Sometimes when I log in to my personal tax account a box appears in the bottom right corner saying Contact HMRC.  I am not sure if it only happens on certain pages because I tend to ignore it.

This page mentions a digital assistant but only for PAYE.  I don't know if it could get you to a human who deals with self assessment

What are the details that need clarifying? Probably people on here that can help.

DRS1: I've tried the digital assistant and it's a complete waste of time. It asks irrelevant questions and says all advisors are unavailable.
Isthisforreal99: No, the details are personal and need to be handled within my personal account.
What I find unbelievable in 2026 is that the only contact options apparently available are telephone (too detailed for phone conversation), email (totally insecure) or letter (in 2026?!) when the obvious route is secure message out, secure message in within my personal account.

I agree @JoeWebber. I complained to them , by mail, last year but got a response along of the lines "we understand and are always looking to improve but no plans etc" . Absolutely ridicolous .
