Outfox Energy SMETS1 Smart Meter Compatibility?

Hi all, I'm in a property that has SMETS1 Smart Meters for both Gas and Electric - they were like that when we moved in. The people before us were with OVO, and I'm with Octopus. Maybe via the electric if smets1 gas work same way as smets2 - via the comms hub on the electric meter - or do they communicate directly ?
My liberty smets1by EOn was supposedly also directly readable by Octopus prior to it's DCC integration - but they didn't support my split E10 tariff alcs timings - so didnt switch to their E7.
