Exchange rate sterling to euro

I have noticed some increase in the rate of sterling to euro in the last week or so.
Looking at last year there were a couple of occasions when the rate went as high as 1.20. Is that an unusual peak, has if often got to that level?
I appreciate that rates can't be predicted.

If you Google something like 'gbp eur history', you'll find plenty of online resources where you see historical rates, such as:
