ES A to State Pension/Pension Credit

I got state pension and 2 weeks later my full UC so for 2 weeks had been paid twice so that is what I paid back (did check amount). I did not mind. Just to add pension was paid/due date about 3 days after my previous UC payment was paid if that makes sense.0

It all depends on the date that you receive your first pension payment and the date that you last UC AP ends.Auti said:Just to say UC sent me a letter asking for the overlap overpayment to be repaid as you cannot be paid twice for the same period. I repaid as it was a double payment.
If your first pension payment was made before the end of your UC AP then yes it should have been declared as non-earned income and deducted £ for £ from your final UC payment*.If it wasn't declared/deducted then it was an overpayment of UC and is recoverable. However -
If the first pension payment isn't paid before the end on the last UC AP then it cannot be deducted from the payment for that AP. (No unearned income = nothing to be deducted).
Then when the first pension payment it is made you are no longer claiming UC - so you can't declare the pension payment to UC, and there is no UC payment to deduct it from if you could declare it, which means that there can't be an overpayment of UC.In other words it is only if you receive any pension payment whilst still on UC that the pension payment received should be deducted from the UC.
Once your UC has ended then any payments received (for anything) cannot affect UC.*I have now decided to commence my small works pension on my SPA date itself, which means that it will have a payment in my final UC AP, so I will declare it and it will be deducted £ for £ from my final UC payment.
However my first State Pension payment will not be until after my final UC AP has ended, so that cannot be deducted from my final UC payment, and as it will be made after my UC has ended then it cannot result in an overpayment of UC.0 -
Yes it was received before end of UC AP but they did not deduct so overpayment - all got sorted/paid as soon as got letter as only a small amount and I did owe it

Yeah sorry my first payment is just for a week around £290. My next payment towards the end of March is for a full four weeks around £1100. My ongoing rate is about £255 a week paid in arrears. It's full State Pension plus a little from my late husband.Newcad said:Neko1234 said:Thanks Newcad yeah my first payment is a bit more (about £40) than my following SP payments will be not sure why! There appears to be something odd there.Just to check - your birthday is on the 18th February?State Pension is paid in arrears and so if you only reach SPA on the 18th Feb then a payment of SP on the 25th Feb should only be for 7 days, i.e. much less than a normal 28 day payment, not £40 more.0
