Good morning everyone
Not usually this early but I am trying to post whilst drinking my second cuppa of the day and before I start on today's list. I'm trying to get into a routine.
Thanks for the start Scarlet and hoping Lionel is alright Gers.
Today I am going into town to collect a parcel and call at the bank. It's mild and damp here and forecast to reach double figures.
I bought a couple of bunches of daffodils at the weekend and they are opening nicely, they do cheer me up when it's dismal outside.
As always thinking of the sad, lonely and poorlies.
Take care x

Sorry GERS I missed your post as we were posting at the same time.. it's a worry trying to.sort.someones health problems out when you are a distance away. I hope you hear better news of him today. Good morning
Dry here and temperatures of 7 degrees, but rain forecast later.
Today I have to go and post a birthday card, will pop into the supermarket for some fresh bread while out. Hopefully that's all I'll buy, need to be stern with myself.
Left over lamb, chips and pickles for tea. I'm not a fan of chips but will eat them now and then. DH on the other hand would eat them every day if I let him.
Gers, I hope you hear from Lionel soon and he is OK.
Have a good day all, take care.13 -

Update - Lionel phoned me at 8.45s.m. to say that the ambulance crew had just arrived - almost 11 hours later, it must have been a busy night in Glasgow. He's now on the way to hospital, not sure which one yet. I've been busy doing some admin for him, he left instructions and phone numbers. Now I have to wait to find out where he's been taken though I'm sure that there'll be a delay outside. Thanks for all the good wishes.14

Good morning all and thanks @Scarlet for starting us off today. Yesterday's snow had gone by teatime and I'd like to think that will be the last of it for this winter but I won't hold my breath! Today is much brighter, generally dry with a light breeze and nowhere near as cold as the last few days.
@Scarlet - I know just what you mean about the collected recipes, I think we're too ambitious sometimes.
@Gers - Sounds like you had a horrible day yesterday, please take time out today for some TLC. Thanks for the update on Lionel, I hope you get better news soon.
@Chrisca - You've got me fancying some toasted fruit loaf now!
@silver-oldie - I too sometimes get distracted from what I'm supposed to be doing - I think it's called the butterfly effect! I'm OK with the cooking for one, it's the shopping for one that I haven't quite nailed yet.
@remmie - I'm not a fan of chips either or even potatoes in general. I couldn't eat them in any shape or form when I was expecting DS and I think that dislike has lingered!
I started on Operation Recipe Transfer yesterday, lots disposed of and a few moved over to the new book but I had to keep breaking off as I was getting writer's cramp.
My handwriting isn't bad but it's nowhere near as good as it used to be, I blame computers. Anyway, it's a start and I did a few pottering jobs in the breaks. I enjoyed Call the Midwife last night, no idea what I'm watching tonight as I didn't get a TV guide for this week. Usual day to day stuff today, nothing exciting, but at least it feels as if we're back to normal. Tea tonight will be sausage, braised red cabbage and a couple of hash browns, maybe a couple of easy peelers for afters since they need using up.
I hope everyone has a good start to the new week, hugs available where needed, take care and stay safe. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
I’ve given up on cooking for one and usually batch cook for 4 and freeze in portions !11

I do that too although it can result in frequent bouts of freezer content shuffling at times!Suffolksue said:I’ve given up on cooking for one and usually batch cook for 4 and freeze in portions !

Morning, been a bit awol but I keep getting distracted. I've written a list of jobs for the week now so I don't hopefully! get too distracted and do nothing. Jobs today are all in the garden/garden related if it doesn't rain too heavily, I've already been distracted once and haven't had breakfast yet...It just chucked it down last night so everything should have been well watered anyway. Got washing on and drying so those jobs today too. SO, I bought a cookbook for one portion cooking, some of the recipes look really nice but again, I can't [it appears] cook for two despite having at least ten years of practice so you're not alone. I tend to do four minimum so stuff gets chucked int he freezer and then forgotten about. I also have a couple of recipe books and a folder [ as well as countless cook books currently put away in limbo in the back bedroom] that I add to...and the reason I have two recipe books is I forgot I had one anyway and started a new one...Gers, hope Lionel is ok and they can treat him...dp1, congrats to your dd..and I've forgotten everything else sorry....so take care all!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12

Hi everyone,
I'm feeling very frustrated, my left ankle has only just about fully recovered from my tumble down the stairs at Sainsbury's in October and I woke up in the early hours of Saturday morning with a very painful right foot, just below the ankle bone. It's very painful to put weight on or to move it in certain ways. After a bit of research it appears I have tendonitis which there's not a lot that can be done about apart from rest, elevation etc. I'm not very good at that so by last night it was very sore. I did spend this morning in bed and it has helped so I know I need to take it easy. We have Nate on Thursday and then we'll be going to Bristol on Friday so I hope it feels better soon. Steve will have to run round after Nate, which, to be fair he usually does as Nate prefers him as a playmate, he comes to me if he needs cuddles.
I'm another who has a big recipe collection, probably 95% of which have never been tried. I too find it difficult to cut down on quantities but we've decided that instead of freezing things we will have the same meal 2 nights running, neither of us mind that and we can freeze the odd meal we don't fancy the same thing.
Gers, I hope Lionel is ok and you get good news soon.
Have a good day.10
