You won't recognise them as they are not household names. Most providers pulled out of PPI following its issues (Even though regular premium PPI was not really a problem). What you have now is a very small number of players.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.1

ASU/PPI market shrank significantly after the scandals of bank miss-selling and all but disappeared during covid. A couple of players came back into the market after but some decided to permanently close up shop.thebrains? said:I'm looking at redundancy insurance i don't really recognise any of the companies in the comparison result, is there any advice on what to look for
It is a point of note that ultimately ASU is a 12 month contract and prices are adjusted each year. Those that didnt shut shop during Covid increased the pricing by up to 5x what people were paying before
You won't recognise most the names, even at its height it was heavily leaning on specialist insurers and many of those did white labeled products that third parties could sell under their own name.
There are a few more writing ASU than Unemployment alone, but the extra competition won't necessarily offset the extra risk they are taking on for the Accident and Sickness components.1
