Asda hiking the price

Quite surprised at some of the comments on here, I think it's profiteering hiking something up nearly double no matter what it is and that was the point I was trying to get over.0

Just doubling the price of something is not profiteering.Parslee said:Quite surprised at some of the comments on here, I think it's profiteering hiking something up nearly double no matter what it is and that was the point I was trying to get over.
If they were fixing the price in cahoots with all the other supermarkets then that would be profiteering - it's a quid at Tesco.
If they had increased the price of an essential commodity during a national emergency then that would be profiteering - it's beer and we're not at war.
They might well argue (although there's no need for them to respond at all) that they have simply removed the promotional discount they have been applying for some time.

Distasteful as it may be to you that where you normally buy that item has gone up so much the onus is on you as a customer to make sure of getting the best deal. Either by changing product or shopping elsewhere.Parslee said:Quite surprised at some of the comments on here, I think it's profiteering hiking something up nearly double no matter what it is and that was the point I was trying to get over.
I would imagine if the supermarket sees a large percentage drop in sales with that item they will reconsider price increase.
Especially if they are getting near the end of their shelf life.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke2 -
It was the indignation that came with it that raised a smile - sorry!Parslee said:Quite surprised at some of the comments on here, I think it's profiteering hiking something up nearly double no matter what it is and that was the point I was trying to get over.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.0 -
Asda is quite competitive comparing to other supermarkets. It's not even essential, can't you switch to another beer?0

I quite like Banks and always buy a couple of bottles if I am in Aldi. I never drink in pubs now as they are so expensive.0
